We had the good fortune of connecting with Candice Wagner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Candice, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?

The success of my business has everything to do with the challenges we have faced and the challenges we’ve overcome. Back in 2017, we lacked leadership, a strong vision, and a team to support our mission. I was a co-owner in the business at the time, and my partners and I did not share the same goals for the business, which eventually caught up to us.

At that time, the business was headed for failure and when this realization finally set in, I went into a state of fight or flight for a period of three years, doing whatever we could to turn it all around.

Though that period of life was the most trying period I have ever experienced, it was the best thing that ever happened to me. It was the best thing that ever happened to my business.

The trials and the challenges that occurred taught me the most valuable lessons I have gained, that no matter what happens in this life, there is always a choice to be made, a lesson to be learned, and it is your belief in yourself that you can pull through any challenge.

Today, CrossFit Iron Horse is thriving! And I owe much of that success to my team, to my community, and to the lessons I’ve gained from some of the hardest periods of my life.

What should our readers know about your business?
We help our members live happier, healthier lives! We offer group and private training, nutrition and high-performance coaching. We can proudly say that we are on a mission to help the whole person. Though fitness leads to long term health and happiness, we also understand the importance of helping our members create the life they envision, and that all starts with behavior change, habit development, and progress in ALL areas of life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I personally love long boarding on the trinity trail, snagging brunch at Snooze on the weekend with a friend, and heading up to Lake Grapevine to enjoy the water with my boys (dog kids).

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe endless thanks to team CrossFit Iron Horse, to the CFIH community, my family, partner, and to the following individuals who currently mentor and coach me on a monthly basis: Kim Knox, Marcy Luna, Brian Strump, and Greg Strauch.
