We had the good fortune of connecting with Candice Moten and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Candice, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
At the time I stepped out on faith to embark on this journey. I had been terminated from two jobs within a 3 month span. In that moment I’d decided I wasn’t going to let another place of employment decide to let me go with no heads up! No plan on how I should move forward. In my previous jobs I’d worked as a manager and the worker. I’d made up my mind that I handled being in authoritative positions more than the latter. As I was pursuing an associates degree for general studies thinking to go on for Business Administration. Massage therapy fell in my path. At that time I was terminated my pay was $11/hr and I told myself if I could make the same money in half the time in the day. I’d be well on my way to living a free and fulfilled life. In 2012 I began my first year as a licensed Massage Therapist and was making my goals within Months. I remember making my first $50/hr. I thought that was the easiest money I’d ever made and had a blast while doing it! After a few years of receiving 50% of the total for a massage. In 2016 I decided to go independent. Then I would be receiving 100% of the total cost.

What should our readers know about your business?
A Therapeutic Touch is a place you may come and relax all your worries away. We pride ourselves in the ability to listen to the clients concerns and challenges. Then devise an approach to the body that benefits for the long run. We are very detailed with our bodywork and like to focus on the problematic areas of the body. Trigger Point Therapy is a specialty modality used to release portions of the muscle that have bundled together and adhered to one another or the bone. This causes restriction amongst the blood vessels, nerves, and all body systems especially skeletal. We like to bring awareness and attention to these areas and mixing other modalities to help the muscle tissue flourish at it’s highest optimum level of performance.

I am most excited about the number of repeat clientele and when I am explaining to people what is happening with their bodies and the tissues specifically. The message is received and most respond with a ‘That makes sense”.

I want the world to know that living in pain doesn’t have to be a thing. Our Creator of Earth made it to where our bodies can be renewed with touch and applying some pressure. With consistent self care we can make this world a better place one body at a time.

I am where we are today business-wise because of consistency and loving what I do. Also a great attitude + gratitude for helping and healing people. I never felt like I needed to play hooky with this gig. That’s when I knew I was on a right path. I understood that I had an obligation to assist people in their wellness.

I won’t say it wasn’t hard at times. In the stage of building clientele. It took me about 3 years of grinding and taking appts all hours and doing events. Long hours some days and I felt it was all for the sacrifice of the greater good. Grateful to be able and have the wellness about myself necessary to continue forward.

The lesson I have learned along the way is to be light. I’m understanding we’re all dealing and healing from something and with just a little bit of love we can be encouraged to pursue whatever happiness is for us all.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Dfw is such an exciting place filled with all sorts of activities.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to all my clientele. Especially the repeats. Without you all I would not be able to administer my abilities to assist in healing the body system.

I would also like to thank all the woman and men in my life who showed me what not only working hard, but what working smart looks like.
