We had the good fortune of connecting with Candace Tuck and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Candace, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My business was starting before I actually realized it was starting. As a young wife, experiencing the highs and lows of marriage I started “The Couples Lounge” in the living room of my home. We invited other married couples to have candid conversations about marriage life. I wanted to create a safe place where we could help each other and know that we are not alone. After about a year we ended it. And then in 2016, we wrote a book titled Somebody Shoulda Told Me, Marriage Do We Really Know What It’s About, that manifested into the business we have today. So my thought process has always been about how to help married couples stay happily married, overcome hardships, and stay in love with one another. I just knew, before I really knew, that God didn’t create marriage to be full of strife, anger, chaos, infidelity, bitterness, etc. Therefore, it became my mission to inspire, encourage, and give hope to God’s union.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
So what sets me apart from others is that I work with my husband in coaching couples, speaking, and hosting our award-winning podcast. We are very unorthodox so it makes for great entertainment on the podcast as we teach and enlighten our followers. Coaching couples, as a couple, is very powerful because it enables us to bring both perspectives to the conversation and support our clients in processing how their spouse/partner may be feeling and what they are trying to communicate.

Working together has had its challenges and wasn’t always fun. The reason I never gave up was that I knew this was bigger than us and was a direct order from God. There were many times when I asked God to just let me do it on my own and every time, literally, I got a NO. I stayed committed to the vision God was showing me, and prayed as I kept pushing my husband, who resisted a lot so it was very frustrating. I just didn’t feel like I should be running things on my own when we were a team hosting together, speaking together, traveling together, etc. The same thing many people feel in their marriage!

Then in 2022, I resigned from education after 20 years to open my coaching practice, We Will Win, full-time. I thought I have the connections, the following, the resources this will not be a hard transition at all. HA! For about six months I considered going back into education but I kept hearing God say, “Are you going to trust me or just you?” So I found out the entrepreneur path is a FAITH WALK. There were moments I felt defeated and confused. I could see the concern on my husband’s face and in his actions because of the financial shift. I had to be vulnerable with him and share what was going on and how I felt. He encouraged me and hugged me. My mindset and emotional rollercoaster shifted one Sunday when I watched T.D. Jakes sermon…It’s Bigger Than You Think!

I love all aspects of my business. They are uplifting and supporting people in living authentically, with joy, and unlocking their true potential so they can show up as the best versions of themselves. I’m excited that Coaching/Counseling/Therapy is not such a taboo in the black and brown communities and we are doing our work to heal and be better. I’m excited that I am manifesting a dream I had as a 12th grade student of owning my own business. I’m excited that I am on my way to being labeled as one of the best to ever do it and that my brand WILL be a household name. I’m so excited that I was chosen to be who I am and do what I do in my time on earth.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way are: I am accountable for the vision God showed me, Procrastination is self-harm and fear, not a time-management issue, God and Candace are a majority, A routine spiritual practice is a must, I am 100% responsible for my reality and I can create the life I want, Accountability partners help your prosper, get some, focus and discipline is hard when you will not stay off of social media and it halts your progress (these are the main ones I could go on and one).

What I would like the world to know about my brand, which is me, is that it is INSPIRATIONAL, ENCOURAGING, and FUN. I believe you can have the marriage and life you desire you just need the “keys”. I am co-creating a JOYOUS WORLD.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting we are definitely going dancing. The first spot would be Lava Catina on Sunday. She loves sushi so on Monday we would visit her favorite sushi spot. Throughout the rest of the week, I would take her to ride go-carts at K1 Speed because neither of us have been but love adventure, visit ESO Bar for more music and dancing, catch a comedy show at Improv, and then visit Downtown Fort Worth at night in the plaza area. Oh one more spot the Toyota Music Factory in Irving. We always have a really good time there.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I must give a Shoutout to my husband because he is my other half. It’s our dynamic energy together that creates the magic of The Couples Lounge. I also want to give a Shoutout to the Inner Vision Institute of Spiritual Development and Iyanla Vanzant because her Spiritual Life Coaching Program was a transformational experience for me.
