Meet Camden DeMetrovich | Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Camden DeMetrovich and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Camden, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born here in Texas, I moved a lot at a younger age, actually every semester I would go from Texas to Kentucky and that kept on until second grade. This while a little bit annoying at the time actually gave me the chance to broaden my horizons and explore my musical tastes’ while I was young. My father listened to dance / “club music” (that’s what he calls it) while he grew up. So this left an impact on me and my older brother, we both got really deep in to the EDM scene, me deeper than my brother, but that’s not the point. Growing up there was always something different playing in the car, if I was with my dad it could have been old Crystal Method, Skrillex, 12th Planet, or Gorillaz, and that one My Chemical Romance song that everyone knows. Contrarily if I was in my mother’s car it was all country or “pop” music, all the time and some of the classics, while those did not really resonate with me through out my younger years as much as they do now, it was the exposure to that music at a young age that really opened my ears.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Producer/DJ while I have not had any in person bookings (yet) I have played a couple of online festivals, and those have been an absolute blast. I personally like to think that I have a different approach to the music business then some people. I like to come at it with a more comedic approach. Give the fans something to laugh at. If I can get an emotional response the fans are usually more likely to go stream the new song, or download the sample pack so on and so forth. Now take that with a grain of salt, I am no professional my most streamed song has about 1,000 streams so I am nobody to take advice from. Contrarily I have been working hard on this project for about 2-3 years, when I was a freshman in highschool my dad got me a dj controller for Christmas, I instantly fell in love, I was awful at it but I DJ’ed every day for about a year and a half. It wasn’t till my sophomore year of high school that I got into production, I downloaded “LMMS” a free music production software, and I felt like I was on top of the world when I made my first drum loop. It took me about 8 months to release my first tune under my old alias “Acidic”, looking back on it. That has got to be one of the worst songs I’ve heard, like ever. After that the tunes just kept getting a little better and a little better that was until the day my laptop died on me in April 2021. I lost everything years of work collabs, unfinished projects all of it gone. I broke down I really didn’t even know how to react at first, But I looked on the bright side it could have been worse, so I built a new PC and I got an official copy of FL studio and since then things have been a breeze, I’ve had a few contracts with some smaller labels, I scored a couple of films (UIL State Champ) and I’ve just been grinding since!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If the homie came down I would probably take them to Buccees first since non-Texans love that place. After that I would take them to Deep Ellum to experience the musical scene down there. And for food I would most likely just take them out somewhere like Texas Roadhouse, since I’m lactose intolerant I try not to go there too often I’m absolutely in love with their rolls, but the butter gets me….

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
