We had the good fortune of connecting with Britty J and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Britty, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking as an Entrepreneur is important because if you don’t ever take a risk you might miss your next big break! I remember when I took the BIGGEST RISK OF MY CAREER TO DATE, when I decided to up and leave Kansas City Missouri & start over from the bottom here in Dallas Texas, with not one client. The risk I took ended up being worth it and a major blessing, I made what I made back in my hometown plus more & the opportunities have been even greater!

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m a hairstylist been doing hair for over a decade and came from the bottom twice back in my hometown Kansas City and starting over here in Dallas Texas. It definitely wasn’t easy either time but I will say it was probably harder here in Dallas because I started over knowing absolutely nobody and having no name whatsoever! At least back at home in Kansas City I had a name and some people knew me, but here in Texas nobody knew anything about me or even trusted that I could do hair lol. It definitely was not easy and I had a lot of challenges that I had to overcome but being from the streets I already knew that with my hustle and my grind It would set me apart from other stylist on top of me being approachable. I am like a chameleon, I make all my clients feel welcomed each and everyone from the youngest to the oldest I know how to change conversations, I’ carie about my clients hair and I also let them know I care about them by asking them personal questions. One of the major lessons I’ve learned along the way as being a hairstylist is never look at the next hairstylist never get envy or jealous!! You cheer for them all, give them their flowers, congratulate them, and remain focused on yourself …. your time is gonna come once you get that mindset, you going to blossom! Just focus on you and the only thing I want the world to know about my brand Britty J Styles is that I’m gonna be around forever!!!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came down here to visit a couple spots I will take her would be stirr in deep Ellum, Primos downtown, turkey D.A.M, Vinettis, the Hideaway, levels, true kitchen, S&S, 945 lounge, pink Lounge, Can’t forget XTC Or DG’s. Would definitely have to support my guy Ricky Ricardo’s dad’s restaurant the breakfast brothers, would also take her to big biscuit…..lol let’s just say everyday we going out it’s so many places to go in Dallas lol

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
MJ the barber definitely needs Recognition he gave me my first salon to work in when I moved down here to Dallas Texas, he’s young 22 years old. One of the top barbers in Dallas Texas that’s out here getting it, proud of him!!! And definitely as far as my career goes in Texas he played a major part so shout out to him 🙌🏽
