We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Sallier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, what do you attribute your success to?
A major factor behind the success and achievements I’ve accomplished within my field, is determination and seeing how far I can go. As an artist, you must (in my opinion) have a drive and passion for the works you create; but also the limits it can take you if you keep at it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One of the individuals thanked, was my high school art teacher. I had many amazing educators/instructors that made me want to teach, but Mrs. Thomas made me want to pursue teaching Art. Although this is not my end goal when it comes to my creative dreams, along the way to those future goals I wanted to inspire and give young scholars a new perspective of art and what they create with the right guidance. As a High School art instructor, you will get many scholars who do not have a passion for art and what you love. So it is not easy to try and convince young adults how important and amazing art can be. But it is my goal to show them, being an artist/creative goes beyond just knowing how to draw or paint. What I want for the future is to open my own museum. One where there is art for those who didn’t even know they needed it, for those who love more than one style and for those who simply just want to learn about the art world but don’t know where to start. This museum will be for everyone to experience euphoria when they view the pieces being displayed. And this is how I want to represent who I am. My vision is to impact the masses through creativity and what better way to do that then starting it within the classroom.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
What is crazy about this question is, I am such a homebody ha ha. But when I do go out, I love to have fun and experience the moment. Usually my friends are the one setting the plans, but if the roles were reversed, I believe food would be at the top of my list of things to do. One place I have been obsessed with currently is Maple Leaf Diner in Dallas Tx. With excellent food and service, you will want nothing more but to return for another meal. Secondly, visiting Klyde Warren Park-Art District, to give them a new and beautiful experiences of the arts. And lastly for some fun competition, a bowling match at PinStacks.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would’nt be the artist I am today if it wasn’t thanks to a few influential figures in my life growing up. I want to give a shout out and thanks to God first and foremost. Not everyone is granted the gift of creativity in the arts and I am thankful to have been chosen for the purpose of creating. Secondly, thank you to my family for seeing my gift before I ever could. Encouraging me and giving me the necessary tools and opportunities to prosper. And a big shout out to the educator that took a chance on me in school and made me want to pursue being an educator of the arts for those that come after me, Mrs. Thomas during my time at Lamar High School.
