We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Kroll & Adrienne Redman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany & Adrienne, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Since we are both mothers, work life balance can be tricky. We both have experienced challenges in maintaining the balance but that is why we have become such advocates for self care. In the beginning we had limited boundaries simply because we equated success with hard work which meant little to no boundaries. In doing so, we learned a hard lesson about the impact of the ‘hustle’. It leads to burn out, less creativity, and strain on our families. Life is always busy, whether you are a parent, business owner or not. If you do not prioritize yourself you are sacrificing your happiness which will make you feel imbalanced. No matter what, we both carve out time weekly to focus on ourselves and believe that directly correlates with the success of our businesses.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Six years ago, when we met we were at a crossroads in our career. One as a makeup artist and the other as a hairstylist. After working for others at the beginning of our careers, we decided to take the leap of faith and work collaboratively. Because our skills collectively enhanced each other, it was a no brainer. At the beginning it was challenging. We quickly learned that there was more to creating a brand than just doing hair and makeup. We learned that we had to be equally strong talent as well as business owners.

Something that sets us apart in our art form is the actual experience. It’s easy as a creative to have your own vision and allow that to dictate your work. However, since we are providing a service, we know that our creative vision comes second and the client’s desires come first. An exceptional experience is all about listening and connection. When you are truly connected with your client, the end result looks and feels beautiful.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As moms who live in the suburbs of Dallas, we aren’t very ‘in the know’ about the local Dallas scene. Some of our favorite Dallas staples will always be, The Dallas Arboretum, shopping at Northpark, Klyde Warren Park, Uchi, and exploring Trinity Groves.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without question, we owe a lot of our success to our team. We have been so fortunate to have worked with some of the best hair and makeup talent in DFW. In our industry, it’s refreshing to see such a growing group of beauty professionals who support our passion – collaboration over competition.

We are also big fans of The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein. It’s a very special reminder to relinquish control and live without fear. After surviving all that was 2020, it was nice to revisit and remember to feel gratitude for the present.
