We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Donnelly and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Caring. I believe what has truly set my company apart from other marketing and social media agencies is that I give a damn– sometimes a little too much. (that’s where no sleep comes in 😉)
I take the time to get to know my clients– I see the blood, sweat, and tears that they have poured into their companies and I have no choice but to reciprocate that same energy. I am their number one cheerleader. When you yourself actually believe in someones brand, the way you market it becomes unparalleled.
I love what I do and I love my clients. They put everything they have into their businesses, and I want nothing more than to showcase them to the world — because if I’m obsessed, everyone else should be too.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
When I love something, I head-over-heels, can’t-stop-talking-about-it love it.
This level of enthusiasm has made many appearances throughout my life — when I discovered my passion for writing, when I had a dream of diving into journalism and when I eventually found my match made in heaven: a social media management position.
That role allowed me to marry my gift of gab with my passion for social media. Before I knew it, digital marketing became second nature to me. I worked with an array of clients and agencies before deciding to branch off to start my own business in 2018.
The road to get there was not easy. I became a single mom at the ripe age of 21 and in the years to come I sacrificed a lot to ensure I would be home and present with my daughter as much as I could. I started working as a server in fine dining (short hours–big tips) and eventually found my way into the office assisting with their marketing assets. Marketing for restaurants led to a position with a boutique marketing agency, which then led me to creating my own.
My entire business is fueled on my passion for my client’s to succeed. I think you are cool, so let’s make sure the digital world (and beyond) knows it too. 😉
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
EASY! We would stay at The Drover and grab Casa Migos margaritas at their bar. (you can bury me there, I will be happy) Then, we would grab micheladas with their special tajin rim at Second Rodeo Brewing. After that, we would walk over to Provender Hall for some fresh oysters and one of their insane smash burgers. Lastly, we would finish it off walking around the stockyards drinking and dancing!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout would be to my boyfriend, Nick Vitalie. 3 years ago I was doing what I love (social media management) but for a company that was not giving me the respect I deserved. We had just started dating and he would watch how stressed I was, but knew I loved the field I was in. He told me: “Why don’t you do this yourself? You are more than capable, you are doing all of the work on your own anyway. You can do this! You should start your own company.”
It was unimaginable to think as a single mom I could walk away from financial security to start from day one after all I had built with this company, but Nick believed in me.
I kicked off my company without any marketing, without a website and without a social media presence. But, what I did have was a domino effect of clients who trusted me to help build their brands. Through word of mouth and a few pitches to dream partnerships, I went from 2 clients to over 15 in a matter of months— and On Brand Marketing was born.
