Meet Britt Wingard

We had the good fortune of connecting with Britt Wingard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Britt, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“Be the change you want to see.”
This is so powerful and if more people would live this way, the world would be a better place. I have always loved this quote and live by it.
I saw and still see so many issues in the pet grooming industry, which is one of the reasons why I decided to open my own business. To be that change I would like to see.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Snazzy Dog is a members-only boutique pet spa. We focus on high-quality, personalized grooming experiences for dogs, using calm, energy-based techniques and a Fear Free approach. What really sets us apart is the environment we create—it’s not just about grooming, it’s about making each dog feel safe, understood, and cared for.
I’m most proud of the atmosphere we’ve built at Snazzy Dog. It’s peaceful, intentional, and designed with the well-being of dogs and groomers in mind. We are proudly Fear Free Certified, which means every part of the grooming process is done with your dog’s emotional safety in mind—from the way we handle them to the pace we move at and even the environment we’ve created. I’m also certified in Reiki, and I often incorporate calming energy work into the spa experience to help anxious dogs feel more grounded and relaxed. Seeing nervous dogs begin to trust again, or longtime clients say their dogs are excited to come in—that’s what keeps me going.
Getting here wasn’t easy. After working in other grooming salons, I started to notice things I didn’t agree with—both in how the dogs were treated and how employees were treated. It didn’t sit right with me. I realized that if I wanted to make real change and create something better, I would need to go out on my own. So that’s what I did. I’ve faced my share of challenges—from figuring out how to create a sustainable membership model, to navigating the loneliness that can come with trying something different in a traditional industry. But I’ve learned to trust my vision, even when it doesn’t look like everyone else’s. Leaning into my Reiki practice and staying grounded in what’s best for the dogs has helped me through every tough moment.
I want the world to know that Snazzy Dog is more than just a grooming salon—it’s a sanctuary for dogs and a place where calm, connection, and care come first. We’re rewriting the grooming experience, one dog at a time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit Anniston for a week, I’d definitely plan something laid-back, cozy, and nature-filled—because that’s my kind of fun. I’m not someone who gets out a whole lot, but when I do, I gravitate toward peaceful places that help you slow down and soak in the moment.
We’d start with a trip to Mount Cheaha, especially around sunset—it’s the highest point in Alabama and the views are just incredible. Another day, we’d visit Lake Yahou for a quiet afternoon picnic or walk, surrounded by trees and calm water. I love being in nature and those two spots are always grounding and beautiful.
We’d definitely carve out time to visit the Anniston Museum of Natural History—it’s nearby and really well done. Then we’d head over to Noble Street, which is full of great local spots to eat and shop. Old Noble is one of my favorites—such a cool vibe and so many knick knacks to look at! And I’d make sure we stopped by Romarin et Corbeaux—it’s a charming little shop that feels like stepping into another world.
We’d keep it simple, with good food, peaceful scenery, and lots of time to reconnect and recharge. Anniston might be a smaller town, but it has this quiet magic if you know where to look.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
If I really think back, Jess Rona has been an inspiration to me for quite some time. I always admired how she treated the dogs in her care and how confident she always seemed on camera. I still admire her and her growth as a business owner and hope to one day embody that same confidence.
