Hi Brissa, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks can be intimidating because you can’t always see the outcome clearly. At first it was a dream that I would think about at night, “what if I started my own business?” I remember staying up late at night and thinking about one day starting my own business and each day that desire to do it grew more and more, it would literally keep me up at night. Eventually I decided to take the risk and I’m so glad i did! I always say if you take the risk with whatever it is and you think positive and don’t doubt yourself you will succeed in whatever it is you put your mind to! I love that the risk I took has changed my career completely because now I can do things my own way and no one else is above me, I have my own creative freedom. I love doing my craft and I’m always looking for ways to perfect and improve it!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Brazilian Wax Specialist and the face behind Silky Wax Paradise! I specialize in brazilian waxing but also offer other services such as, underarm waxing, brow waxing, brow laminations and more. Brazilians are about 90% of my job as it is what I specialize in, I focus on brazilians because it is such an intimidating service for new clients and my goal is for every single one of my clients to feel as comfortable as you can be for a brazilian wax! Trust me, a brazilian is not the easiest service to get as it can be painful for most women! I want all women to know my suite is a safe place for every body type. It is a judgment free zone and I take my time getting to know my clients, their skin issues and more. If you would have asked me 3 years ago where I see myself in 3 years, I wouldn’t have thought I’d become a brazilian wax specialist, I definitely went through some challenging times but it was worth it because I absolutely love what I do! Everything happens for a reason and sometimes things can be a blessing in disguise which I have learned along the way. You are exactly where you need to be even if you question it sometimes!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Fort Worth is full of great places to eat, fun night life and fun hangout spots! For someone visiting Fort Worth id definitely take them to Snooze A.M. Eatery! They have some great food for breakfast and brunch and well as some great drinks! I recently went to Shipwreck, a bar/ hangout spot on W 7th St. and it is a tiki bar and they have great drinks there and the presentation of the drinks there are great! It was literally such a fun vibe! There’s also some good museums here as well!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family and friends are definitely a very big part of my business because they support me and push me to take the risks! I have such an amazing support system and im so grateful for it! My business has grown a lot thanks to all my existing clients who have referred me to their friends or family. As well as my instagram, @silkywaxparadise is a tool I use to help grow my business as well by sharing my work and having people get to know me that could be potential clients. I am so grateful for all the girls who have came into my suite and have gotten serviced by me!
