We had the good fortune of connecting with Brianna Curtis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brianna, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
At the Center for Birth, we are committed to more than just providing exceptional midwifery care—we are dedicated to being a trusted resource and welcoming space for all families in the Fort Worth area. Whether it’s through midwifery services, wellness offerings like massages, or access to our supplement shop, we strive to create a community hub where families feel supported, informed, and cared for. Even if they didn’t have their baby with us, our doors are open to anyone seeking information, resources, or simply a friendly, supportive environment.

One of our core missions is to expand access to midwifery care. We believe that every woman deserves the right to birth in a freestanding birth center if that is her choice. However, financial barriers often limit access to this option. To address this, we have committed to offering a free birth each month to a family in need. Since our opening, Midwife Bri and our incredible staff have worked tirelessly to make this vision a reality by finding ways to provide discounted or pro bono services without compromising the sustainability of our practice. We’ve also launched a donations page and host community fundraisers, including an annual Gala, to support families who may not have the resources to afford midwifery care.

Beyond birth services, we believe in giving back to the broader Fort Worth community. This past holiday season, we hosted a toy drive with free Santa photos for families, donating the collected toys to local charitable organizations and helping families in need. These initiatives reflect our ongoing commitment to supporting the well-being of the community we serve.

Our commitment extends to environmental responsibility. We minimize waste, use organic materials wherever possible, and rely on non-toxic cleaning agents for our day-to-day operations. These efforts are part of our broader intention to leave the world better than we found it—for our families, our children, and future generations.

Ultimately, our mission is simple: to increase access to compassionate, high-quality midwifery care while fostering a strong, inclusive community where every family feels supported, empowered, and welcomed. We aim to leave the world a better place than we found it.

What should our readers know about your business?
Center for Birth is a community center where anyone within the community can utilize our services and all of the resources that we have to offer, even if they never had a baby with us! We believe that it is our job to increase access to midwifery care and we also recognize that there are limitations for some, so we are doing our best to remove those barriers by offering free care and births by finding creative ways to obtain donations for those who would love a birth center birth, but simply can not afford it. Every woman deserves a midwife.

We take special care to positively impact the environment, keep our space for birthing families as non toxic as possible by using organic/non-toxic cleaning supplies and minimizing our waste that we create at each birth. Our signature herbal bath is a special part of every birth here at the Center for Birth – our all organic herbs that support those delicate healing tissues is a favorite here especially because of the photo opportunity where a few hours after birth, Mom and baby enjoy the bath together with flowers floating in the water to create a beautiful setting.

I have been a midwife for ten years and have attended well over a thousand births. Having my mama as a role model made it easy for me to know what it takes to have a successful business. For us, it’s in our blood to serve, so it never really feels like work when you have the best job in the World. I learned from my mama and her practice model and style, so I was able to take all of those parts of her business model that I knew would help Center for Birth be a success. Then, I added in those things that i felt were important to have within my own practice and here we are!

We are all about increasing community within the midwifery community and the families of DFW.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Since we are fairly new to Texas, we have a lot of places we enjoy visiting. We love Big Bend National Park and actually have a mural planned as a photo op for welcoming our newest little Texans.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Mama who was a well loved midwife for over 20 years in Washington State. I watched her as far back as I can remember caring for her mamas and babies with so much love and dedication, it wasn’t long before I knew I too would be a midwife. I grew up listening to these amazing stories of women birthing their baby naturally with my mama sitting by their side selflessly supporting them through each contraction until that final moment they pushed their baby into her gentle hands as she then lifted the baby onto her chest. She had a very successful licensed free standing birth center and so it felt like an “easy” progression for me when deciding to purchase a birth center here in Texas. And of course, I needed her by my side so I convinced her to come out of retirement and become my business partner. I know I couldn’t do it without her love and support.
