We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Valdibia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brian, what inspires you?
Absolutely anything and everything, we’re super thankful to have another day as a band, and to have the loyal support of family, friends, and fans. They keep us fueled so we can keep delivering that SOUTH TEXAS HEAVY METAL 🤘🏾
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
LONESCAR was started in 2013 by Lead guitarist Michael Eli Perez And Bassist Mike Gonzalez, After a few line up changes, the full lineup with Drummer J.C Hernandez and Vocalist Brian Valdibia was formed in 2015. Pouring gasoline in everything they do, The band started a fire with unforgettable performances opening up for Major Acts like Selpultura, WhiteChapel, HAVOK, and Darkest Hour which gain them a loyal fanbase in the RGV. “ALWAYS WANTING MORE AND MORE” Like the chorus to their song “Gluttonous TO THE CORE” says, they aimed their sights to the road, and came back hungrier than ever. Fans all over Texas came, and told the band over and over that the ep’s they had put out in 2016 and 2017 weren’t enough, and they needed more LONESCAR. 2019 saw the band once again enter the studio, but this time to record their debut album “LUST FOR THE END”. Tracked, Mixed, and Mastered all at Casa panchita Studios in their hometown of Weslaco, TX with Charlie Vela, the record sees the band at its very best, with glimpses of what’s to come. For metal fans everywhere this record has a little bit for everyone, Its the new wave of American heavy metal played by a bunch of south Texas Mexicans bringing all the heat that the border has to offer. we are excited for the future with whatever problems it may hold, these last ten years weren’t easy one bit, all of our blood sweat and tears are in this band and we are super thankful for being the team that we are. we never let just one person hold the load of the whole band, and we feel that what sets us apart. we are still as organic as a band 40 years ago we love our dynamic and the way we can trust each other. we’ve learned so many lessons along the way, patience being the most important of the lessons, everything works out when you trust.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Definitely the TEXAS STATE FAIR, our boy BIG TEX even made it to our album cover, i could spend a whole week there but that’s just me. we’re cowboys fans so we suggest making the trip out to Arlington and visiting the cowboys stadium while you’re close. While in Arlington, we always like to stop by and give Dime and Vinny from Pantera graves a visit, pour out a shot and thank them for everything they’ve done with heavy music.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our families for sure, for putting up with our crazy ideas and everyday thoughts. It’s not common your boys tell you they want to be heavy metal musicians in our little slice of the border so we thank them for their love, support and patience through out this whole journey.
