We had the good fortune of connecting with B’ria Wagner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi B’ria, why did you pursue a creative career?
The reason I chose an artistic/ creative career was because it came so naturally. My mom is an artist and we have always been thinking of ways to combine our talents to create a business together. Juneteenth Unity games gave us a platform to be athletic, artistic/creative and informative.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve always been an athlete and since I was little I knew that I wanted to find a way to stay connected to it in some way. I went from playing sports semi professionally to coaching. Always looking for ways to stay active, we started thinking of adult field days. The idea quickly turned into Juneteenth Unity Games when my. mom & I started looking for a way to build our own platform during the George Floyd protest, without putting ourselves in potentially dangerous situations. We used this platform to bring light to black culture, promote unity and love, teach on black history and have some fun, laughs and smiles while we are at it. Juneteenth became a national holiday just 2 days before our inaugural event on June 17th, 2021. The world can be a really tough place and we wanted to provide an environment where we didn’t shy away from the conversations that needed to be had but also give the guest the chance to be free and just play! It was no easy task as we created this event with no team to help us build or any funding until a month before the event. We learned that if we keep building, the people will come! And they did just that.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Me and my friends are more the homebody types but some cool places I would go would include
Brunch & Drinks:
– Stirr (Dallas)
– Another Broken Egg (Grandscape; The Colony)
– KAI (Plano)
Food & Entertainment:
-Nerdvana (Frisco)
– Studio Movie Grill (The Colony)
Hangouts:

– Top Golf (The Colony)
– Grandscape (The Colony)
