We had the good fortune of connecting with Brent Martin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brent, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
Being a serial entrepreneur, and now a core member of an innovative startup, a crucial adjustment in my career was becoming coachable. This shift in mindset has led me to pursue a life of learning and growth. Being coachable has also allowed me to take an objective look at my strengths and weaknesses.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
After completing a couple of entrepreneurial healthcare projects in the last two years, I recently joined Staff Pad to take an innovative approach to disrupt the recruiting industry. For the past two decades, I’ve kept a pulse on emerging markets and solutions. This passion continues to drive me daily with growing amazing companies, and I see Staff Pad as the next groundbreaking recruiting solution.
My career path has been a fantastic journey as an executive operator, business builder and advisor/consultant for 30+ startups and mid-size companies. My career story is always evolving and I’m proud to consistently align with market leaders to drive true results.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to dig deeper mentally and not be driven by emotions. Having established processes helps to focus mentally and prevent emotional distractions.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live at White Rock Lake so I tend to soak in the beauty of the lake daily with walks or bike rides. Other than that, you can find me at a concert, enjoying random outdoors activities, or grabbing a beer on a neighborhood restaurant patio!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve had amazing mentors along the way, but I think my shout out needs to go to my family and friends. Being an entrepreneur and building businesses is difficult and time consuming. To grow projects to next levels, you have to have an amazing support structure from people who are patient and see your vision. I owe it to my family and friends for always being a positive influence to help me accomplish my goals.
