We had the good fortune of connecting with Bree’ Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bree’, what makes you happy? Why?
Interacting with my son daily and helping him reach his developmental milestones brings me happiness. The saying is true that implies you don’t know what true love is until you have a child. The bond we share is indescribable. Being a first-time parent is an ongoing adjustment and learning experience but rewarding. Another thing that makes me happy is helping others in their time of need. It touches my heart to see the change that occurs after our interaction.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
During the pandemic, I created a website called The Self Zone. The Self Zone is meant to encourage, uplift, and inspire others to shine their light freely. I reference the light as our inner self. Light can heal and nurture. When we apply knowledge and principles to different areas of our lives, what we are truly seeking is peace.

What sets me apart from others is my positive outlook on life. I am the go-to person for pep talks and a listening ear.

I am proud of stepping outside of my box for first starting the Self Zone and also reaching out to other content creators on social media platforms for insight on how to build my brand. This whole experience of being a content creator is new to me.

Friends and family have often consulted with me in areas of life, such as well-being, self-care, and enlightenment. My experience in advocacy, relationship building, and support led me to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University and a Master of Science degree in Human Resource Management from Franklin University.

Getting to the point I am at today was not an easy journey. I faced a lot of challenges along the way with family, a full time job and school. With determination and support from my family and friends I was able to persevere.

I have learned that you genuinely do not know who is watching you. You never know what impact you are making in someone’s life. Always try to be light because you never know who needs it. I want people who read this to know that I am all about positive energy and helping people take care of their well-being.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, My husband, son, and I just relocated here last year from Ohio. Due to the pandemic, I have not been able to be out and about exploring. As things with the pandemic are slowly opening, I am eager to see everything Texas has to offer.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a massive shout-out to my husband, Todd L. Smith II, because he is the one that helped me put my vision to life. He has always been there, pushing me to work to my highest potential. The endless love, dedication, and support from him are greatly appreciated.

My parents deserve credit for my life story because, without them, I wouldn’t be here doing what I love. I appreciate the endless pep talks, support and encouragement to strive for greatness.

I want to recognize my son Mason Smith and siblings (Jazmyn, Laryah, Tamyah, Charlie, and Myracle Worthy) because they are the reason why I push myself to achieve my goals, see new things and be the best version of myself. After all, I want them to know anything they set their mind to is possible.

Last but not least, I want to thank my family and friends for the support, good energy, and love because it means a lot to hear how much of an impact I am making.
