We had the good fortune of connecting with Breann Marshall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Breann, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process of creating my brand Cheers To You Bartending started when I realized I had a niche for making cocktails. I would be at family gatherings and house parties with friends and everyone would ask me to make them a drink. So I thought, I could take this further. I could have just went to work at a bar as a second job, but I didn’t want to stop there. Social drinking, weddings, birthdays…those are all things that will live forever so I thought why not perfect my craft and create my own business that’ll promote good vibes, great cocktails, and make it easier for people like me to have elevated experiences.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Most people probably won’t think about bartending and call it artistry. But it is indeed art, it’s a craft. I’ve spent a lot of time learning the art of cocktail making, what flavors goes well with what liquor, when to shake when to stir, so on and so fourth. But the biggest thing about being a successful bartender that I know I do so well, is being a people person. Being able to talk and listen and connect to the people. That’s just as important as making the drink itself. It was hard starting off because I didn’t have as much experience as others, and I was a bit on the shy side. But over time, I bloomed and branched out and began to overcome all of the fears I had. The biggest lesson I learned is to start. It’ll never be perfect, you may not be where you want to be or have all the tools and skills you want to have, but if you just start, you’ll eventually get there. I just want the world to know that there are affordable services that’ll be able to elevate any sort of event, and I’m here to do it. I bring smiles, vibes, and great drinks to every event, the energy is truly unmatched.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love a good night out with the girls, but I feel like I don’t get out as much as I used to. But first I would go and brunch at Stir or Ebb and Flow in Deep Ellum. Then bar hop and site see in that same area. We would visit some of the museums in the city, most likely the Dallas Museum of Arts and the Perot Museum. As far as fun places I’ll spread these throughout the week in the evening, Wonder Bar, Bowlounge, Cidercade, and maybe Strike and Reel. We would hang out at some bars in Lower Greenville, or on the Cedar Springs strip such as Sue Ellen’s or S4. We would definitely go and hang out at all the fun eclectic spots in Bishop Arts District like Picole, The Record Store, and Emporium Pies. Main dinner spots would be Kitchen and Kocktails, Vidorra, and maybe Pappadeaux. And of course we have to show them the Dallas natives and take them to Rudy’s and Fuel City.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give a shoutout to everyone that has supported me from jump! From one of my first mobile bartending employers Lala, to the friends that encouraged me along the way. I give a huge shoutout to my mom who’s always been my biggest supporter. Any time she’s in the store and see’s something that I could use or benefit from for my business, she just gets it. And last but not least, I want to shoutout the love of my life. Since she’s been by my side, my business has grown and expanded in so many ways. Without her support and motivation, I wouldn’t be where I am today. So to her and the rest of those I named, thank you.
