We had the good fortune of connecting with Breana Long and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Breana, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
When I first started lashing I was working 8am-8pm 5-6 days a week and would even at times stay late or come in earlier. All I wanted was to make my clients happy and meet their every wish, overtime as I grew it started to affect my personal life and thats when I had to learn how to balance work & home. It definitely wasn’t easy and still today I want to get all my clients in but I have limited myself to have actual time off to think about everything else other than just work. I see the balance of my business like a relationship, it’s 50/50. You have to put in the same amount of effort into your personal life for that to succeed as you would want for your business!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Lashing is very complex, let’s just say that! I was self taught so learning from an actual person at my first job really got me going. It takes a lot of patience, a steady hand & concentration! Watching brands like LashBoxLA & what they produce is beyond amazing to me. I’ve taken and completed their Mega Volume Course to try and perfect my skill. Practicing is something I think all lash artist do, it comes with the territory especially on any platform like IG,Facebook. Seeing others work motivates me to want to push what I thought my limits were!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would definitely go down to the farmers market and get a few fresh things to cook at home and wine-down!! For breakfast the next day go to The All Good Cafe in Deep Ellum followed by walking it off lol checking out some shops and maybe even renting a scooter to ride back to the farmers market for lunch at La Ventana for some great tacos and margaritas!! Dave & Busters the next day followed by a movie. Most days would be spent soaking up the sun in my back yard and grilling!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would have to say my clients!!! 90% of my clientele has been with me since before I started my business and for that they get all the recognition. I’ve been lashing for 5 years and I’ve had some follow me since the very beginning, Without clients we wouldn’t have any business!
