Meet Brandon Allen | General Contractor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I have been an entrepreneur for almost 10 years. One of my first endeavors was owning a community retail pharmacy. I was a pharmacist at the time and I thought that this was a no-brainer. I went into that endeavor with guns blazing and with little consideration of the risks that I was taking. This mindset and approach led me to nearly have to file for bankruptcy in 2021. That scare was obviously hard but it was also a blessing.
It was through this process that I began to approach risk differently. Entrepreneurship is inherently risky. I’m still more risk tolerant than the vast majority of people, but ultimately my approach to risk is this. I will look at all the possible outcomes that I can think of. I can usually narrow it down to 2-4 outcomes that are most likely. I will examine the worst possible outcome out of those 2-4 outcomes. Can I tolerate that outcome or have a contingency plan for that particular outcome? If no, then I don’t move forward. If yes, then I proceed and consider what safeguards or contingencies need to be in place along with that.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a North Carolina native with a working-class background and an entrepreneurial spirit that has driven me through multiple industries. My journey began on farms and in tobacco warehouses before going to the University of South Carolina, where I earned a PharmD in 2012. After moving to Fort Worth, Texas, I pursued various roles in pharmacy before purchasing a community retail pharmacy in 2016.
Business ownership brought both challenges and growth, and by 2021, I was on the verge of bankruptcy. Through perseverance, mentorship, and faith, I turned my business around, making it profitable once again.
However, during this journey, I discovered my true passion lay elsewhere. In 2023, I sold his pharmacy and went all-in on Masterpiece Construction—a remodeling company dedicated to breaking industry stereotypes. The company quickly gained traction, surpassing $1.1 million in revenue in its first full calendar year and continuing to grow.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There’s so much to see and do in DFW, but I definitely think that the Fort Worth Zoo has to be on the agenda with a stop at Reata in downtown Fort Worth. I would say a day at the Grandscape area would be a must as well with stops at the Andretti Carting place and Popstroke Golf. There’s lots of good food and shopping there as well. Lastly, I’d make sure we hit Dallas and in particular the Fair Park and farmers market areas.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The biggest shoutout I can give in this is my wife who has loved and supported me through all of my endeavors, successes, failures, and everything in between. As far as a particular resource, Kyle Hunt at Remodelers on the Rise has been pivotal in my construction business and helping me to have so much success.
