We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandee And Jerome Collins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandee and Jerome, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
For Jerome and I the thought process behind creating Polar Bear Roofing & Solar was stepping out on faith and investing in ourselves. Recognizing that we could educate our family, friends and our community about the industry was a huge passion that we were striving to bring to everyone. With my husband and I both having a sales and marketing development background we knew we could create a great business for ourselves. Understanding how we could use those skills to educate the younger generation; especially young black males; on the ideal of building a career off a trade such as roofing could change their lives. We also love the idea of our very own business helping change the face of the industry. So, we began to research, market, and plan how to approach the industry and drive attention and growth. Our main focus was on educating the community on the process and what to do when your home is impacted by the storms. We hit the ground running in the field, knocking doors, attending chamber of commerce meetings, align ourselves with reputable organizations and networking everyday were just a few of the things we did to establish ourselves in the community.

What should our readers know about your business?
Polar Bear Roofing and Restoration, live by a creed that encompasses honor, integrity, passion, and toughness. Within our company, we foster an environment of honest love, where every member is valued and respected. Each one of our Creeds are embedded our roof replacements
When it comes to our clients and their homes, we maintain the highest standards of professionalism, honesty, and top-of-the-line quality work. We understand that your home is your sanctuary, and we are committed to preserving its safety and beauty.

We are most excited about exposing the industry to the next generation. Taking the time out to educate and share how you can create a career that empowers you to manage and grow your own business. We practice what we preach. We do the work with our team and very hands on with our clients. This is how we continue to build trust, honesty and longevity. Everyday is challenging with so many roofing companies in the industry, however, that drives us to work harder, smarter and longer. We work 7 days a week during our hail season and make other sacrifices for our business needs.
What sets us apart from other roofing companies is our deep-rooted connection to the Dallas-Fort Worth area and Texas itself. Being locally born and raised enables us to embody the authentic Texan spirit and exemplify Southern hospitality. Unlike companies that relocated here in response to storms, our commitment to the community is longstanding and genuine.

Creating a platform for our family is our ultimate goal!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are gym rats so our everyday routine includes a healthy workout and a nutritious meal. We’re also Six Flags season holders so on a random day you might catch us flying high on the Batman or Shockwave amusement ride.

We start the week off with a work out at our local Crunch gym. Next we find a healthy spot for a nutritious lunch, some of our favorite spots Gloria’s, Flower Child and Original ChopShop. But what’s life without tacos … we visit Fuzzy Taco’s at least one a week! When we go out and enjoy our evenings we support our local entrepreneur and friends by attending upcoming comedian shows, art & craft events, birthday celebrations and last but least the farmers market through out the week. Tuesday is podcast day! Jerome has an amazing, high energy, local podcast show that he host and shoot in our podcast studio with his partner every week. Right Now with JRoc and KJ discuss all the hot topics, from sports, music and news of the week. On Wednesday nights we like to wine down at Brew City Kitchen and Cocktails in Dallas. The newest and funniest R&B karaoke and bingo party! And as we approach the weekend we enjoy spending our Saturdays outdoors at the kids sports events and activities. Walking the Cedar Ridge nature trail is one of the few places we enjoy the most on the weekends. Sundays we attend church services.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to our endless support groups, family, friends and associates who allowed us to utilize their resources to launch Polar Bear Roofing. They helped start off our journey, involving our support systems in the process of building our own footprint was monumental and personal. Many of them allowing us to inspect their homes, neighbor homes, and other members of their circle. It reminds of a quote I absolutely love “It takes a village” that original came from the African proverb emphasizing the importance of community support in a child’s upbringing, however, I use that in all aspects of life. Having a strong network has help with encouragement and support throughout this journey. We spend a lot of time in the community which helps us continue to build relationships and trust.
