We had the good fortune of connecting with Brad Belser and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brad, how do you think about risk?
Risk VS reward. That is the only way in my mind there is to look at risk. You have to assess the situation and weigh it out for yourself personally. Less risk usually involves less reward. Before I began my career in real estate, I worked for a large corporation. I made decent money, but I was a slave to a company that really didnt care about me personally. And the pay didnt scale with my effort or dedication. The risk was leaving the security of a 40 hour paycheck each week, losing my employer paid insurance for me and my family and all of the other perks and benefits for the potential to build a successful business and increase my income exponentially. For the opportunity to create a life where I control my day, my schedule, and my income is a direct reflection of my work ethic and drive.
In my eyes, in order to build a successful business, theres just no way to do it without taking on risk. And that risk is failing. But failure doesnt have to be the end. You learn along the way, you figure out what works and what doesnt and you just adapt and overcome. No successful person or company became successful when building from the ground up, without taking on risk.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We help people buy and sell real estate. The largest investment that most people make in their entire lives. It can be a stressful time for people. My goal is always to make it as easy as possible for my clients. For them to have a pleasurable, memorable experience when they buy or sell. I provide an unmatched value to my clients with being an expert in my market, staying up to date with the technology and tools available to us and developing systems that can streamline the experience. We can develop these things because of our experience in the industry. You learn what works by first learning what doesnt. That takes time to do. I also believe that you have to be an out of the box thinker, cant be afraid to go against the grain and do things different. If it works, it works.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First things first, you have to eat. My spot is Hurtado BBQ. If you live in DFW and dont know about Brandons BBQ, then you are truly missing out. Its a great spot to visit whether you are a local or not. Texas Live is a great spot to have a couple of beers before the Cowboys or Rangers game, which would definitely be on the agenda as well. DFW is such a large metro area, there are so many things to do, but Im pretty simple, good food, cold beer and good company.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents were great role models for so many things in life. Business is one of them. My mom is a successful photographer and owns a photography company. My dad is a master electrician and owns an electrical company and a construction company. I grew up with entrepreneur parents and that made a huge impact on me growing up. I knew from early on that I wanted and needed to build something of my own. My dad is the person who suggested that I go into real estate in the first place.
My wife is my biggest supporter with everything that I do. Our real estate company is no different. My wife is a licensed agent also and together we own Belser Realty Group. Without her support, there would be no way I could have started this company and gotten it off the ground.
