We had the good fortune of connecting with Betty Nash and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Betty, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have always been artistically inclined. After many years of studying with some of the best teachers, reading many books and constant hard work, I consider myself an artist that is continually learning.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
After painting, taking workshops and studying with different teachers, I took a workshop with well known artist/teacher David Leffel and fell in love with the chiaroscuro style of the Dutch Masters. It took a lot of studying and painting to learn the style but it has made me grow as an artist. I still enjoy learning more every day as it is a never ending process to try to master. I am also a portrait painter. I endeavor to paint the portrait as authentic as possible.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to the Gallery in my hometown to see my work. As there are quite a few unique eating places locally, they could choose their favorite spot. I would take them to meet the group that I paint with. As you can tell, art is the biggest part of my life.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
my husband Bob Nash for encouraging me every step of my career.
