We had the good fortune of connecting with Bernard Farrington and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bernard, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Well, I started my business back in 2017, but as well all experienced, Covid 19 struck. Originally it was structured for Active Adult Communities because I noticed a need to have better dietary options, that were scratch made for those that came before us, raised and helped take care of us as kids. However, when the facilities would not allow allow outside vendors to enter due to Covid, it was time for a pivot. A pivot I did not know how to make as a small business owner! Listen, I love GOD, but I didn’t understand “Why this, Why now?” However, because of prayer, listening, and paying attention to HIS voice, grouped with meeting the correct people, I have learned and directed my focus on wanting to make sure everyone eats healthy. What my thought process is now, focuses on clean eating for all dietary needs, not just the Senior Community!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Growing up on a farm in North Carolina, I did not know or understand the reasons I loved watching my Aunt Vivian (Coopie) make the same breakfast every morning. For years I watched and never became tired of watching or eating this wonderfully prepared meal. All I knew was it made people happy, gave them a good reason to wake up, and honestly, even though it was the “same exact meal,” it tasted better every single time. I would stand on a chair and watch, as she waved the aroma of what was being prepared under her nose or use a tasting spoon to identify flavors. It was amazing to me! All the while thinking to myself, “ how does she do that so well?” I do remember the joy I would literally have with every bite! And, I remember asking when I was older, “ HOW IN THE WORLD DID YOU MAKE THE SAME MEAL TASTE BETTER EVERY DAY?” Her response: “ THE SECRET INGREDIENT IS LOVE!”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would probably take them to Kitchen and Cocktails. I have never been personally, but I have heard the experience and the food are great. Depending on the time of year it was, I would say, going to a Mavericks game would be a fun venture to experience. Lastly, we would go to my church ( One Community Plano), as the experience and connection would probably be the highlight. That may sound boring to some people, but they have not been to One Community!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost I thank the Sovereign Lord Jesus because without HIM “nothing” is possible! I would like to that Sara Davis because she believes in me and has given direction and introduction to many things, ideas, and people! Sara Davis has been a blessing of knowledge, peace, and unconditional love from the start. Also, Andrea Patrick ( Be The Brand), who pushed me into pivoting and continuously pushes me to strive for more.
