Meet Ben Guilherme | Pet Stylist/ Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ben Guilherme and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ben, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always been self-employed, so starting my own business wasn’t a big surprise to anyone who knew me. I’ve spent most of my career in industries where I was essentially my own boss, so continuing down that path felt like a natural progression.
Interestingly enough, I got into grooming in a roundabout way—one of my friends approached me about buying their grooming shop. At the time, I didn’t know much about the industry, but I was eager to learn. I dove in headfirst, determined to understand the ins and outs of grooming so I could confidently run my own salon without feeling like I was constantly playing catch-up.
Of course, like with anything new, there were moments where I felt overwhelmed or unsure. But that’s part of the process. You grow, you learn, and you keep moving forward.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being a business owner in the pet grooming industry definitely comes with its own unique set of challenges. Unlike a traditional 9-to-5 job, running a grooming salon means long hours, often six days a week, and wearing a lot of different hats—from groomer to receptionist to maintenance tech and everything in between. There’s always something that needs your attention, and some days, you’re hustling just to keep things moving forward. But that’s the nature of growth—it’s never handed to you; you earn it.
What sets me apart in this industry is the level of commitment I bring to both the business and the pets we care for. I didn’t just step into grooming—I dove in headfirst, determined to understand every aspect of the job so I could lead from experience, not just from behind the scenes. I’m not just here to offer a service; I’m here to build relationships, create a safe and loving environment for every pet, and set a new standard for what a grooming experience should be.
While some may treat grooming like a routine task, I treat it like a craft—one that takes skill, patience, and a whole lot of heart. And that’s what keeps clients coming back—not just clean pets, but the care, consistency, and trust I bring to the table.
At the heart of my brand is a simple but powerful commitment: exceptional customer service and genuine care for every pet and person who walks through the door. My grooming business was built on the belief that pet care should be personal, compassionate, and consistent—and that shows in every part of what we do.
I want people to know that when they bring their pets to me, they’re not just getting a grooming appointment—they’re becoming part of a community. I take the time to get to know each pet and their owner, because trust and comfort are just as important as the final look. Whether it’s remembering a dog’s favorite treat or understanding a pet’s anxiety triggers, those small details matter. And I make sure to listen—to really hear what clients need, what concerns they have, and how I can make their lives just a little bit easier.
What sets my brand apart is the experience. It’s not just about a clean cut—it’s about a calm, safe space, open communication, and pets who leave happy (and looking adorable). I want every client to walk away knowing their pet was cared for like one of my own. That’s the standard I hold myself to, and that’s the brand I’m proud to stand behind.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting for the week, Bishop Arts would definitely be our home base. It’s got that perfect mix of character, creativity, and killer food—basically everything you’d want to show off to someone new in town.
This day would revolve around dinner at Stock & Barrel—my absolute favorite restaurant in Bishop Arts. The food is next-level (I always recommend the pork chop or Salmon), and the whole atmosphere is just effortlessly cool without being too much. “A cozy vibe.”
Of course, we’d make time for a little pampering at my grooming salon! I’d show them around, maybe groom their pet if they brought one along (because yes, even their dog deserves the full experience!). Afterwards, we’d check out The Dog Stop or walk around Kidd Springs Park for a more relaxed, pet-friendly outing.
Bishop Arts is more than just a cool place to visit—it’s full of character, creativity, and community, and I love how every time you go, it feels like you discover something new. It’s the perfect place to give someone a little taste of what makes this area so great.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This will come as no surprise—but Chris Lacquement has been an incredible mentor and friend throughout this entire journey. He’s helped me navigate the ups and downs of running a business and saved me from countless headaches along the way. From teaching me the ins and outs of business taxes to helping me tackle unexpected maintenance issues, Chris has been there every step of the way. I can honestly say he’s always had my back and my best interests at heart, and for that, I’m beyond grateful.
