We had the good fortune of connecting with Belen Gomez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Belen, what role has risk played in your life or career?
What I think about risk , is something that you are not comfortable with and are scared of. In a good way. A role that played a big risk taking in my life was moving to California without a job, during a pandemic and leaving all my clientele and family to start fresh. In a new city new state with only knowing one person.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So I am a hairstylist, I’ve been a haze hairstyles for four years now. And I’d have to say it wasn’t so easy but it wasn’t so hard just because I did get my cosmetology license in high school and I have to shout out my teachers Miss Rodgers And Ms. Najera. And to where I am right now it has been a challenge just because the saving power and moving to a more expensive place than what you were used to, but you have to do and take risks to create an opportunity that you want. I guess the message and brand/story that I want to put out is definitely take risks in life because you don’t want to live a what if life. Yes you may struggle but that is what keeps you humble and makes you appreciate more of the risk that you take and more of life. Also it puts you and your parents perspective as how much they gave up and how hard they were to give you a better life.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

I would honestly take them to the local spots not necessarily that touristy areas. There is a place where I love going to which is called crave Café it’s been my go to since I’ve been visiting LA. And hanging out why is like the drinking/party scene although we’re in a pandemic but it gives you that vibe still following rules it’s the woodman and El Tejano. El Tejano makes me feel a little bit more at home because it is A Tex-Mex like place. These places make it feel a little bit more back to normal which I feel everybody needs. Honestly all of LA has something to offer food ,people and an experience ,it’s definitely different from Dallas and there’s always something going on every corner you turn.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly I feel like I couldn’t have done it without my family and friends. Just because they were the ones that pushed me to actually doing what I wanted to do and actually leave and take a risk to get further in my career
