We had the good fortune of connecting with Bear Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bear, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from Miami, Florida, where my mom and dad started a small business owning real estate property. I was inspired by the hard work they had put in every day to make it successful. I played tennis from junior high school through college. I worked in children’s group homes for 2 years. Then I opened a small drug testing company in Winston-Salem N.C. for 5 years before moving to Texas. I worked at a gym as a certified personal trainer for 2 years after moving to Texas. After that, I opened a personal training studio in University Park as Body Renovation LLC. I think those years gaining the knowledge and experience in the field and business side has made me a stronger business owner and person.
What should our readers know about your business?
As an active personal trainer in Dallas and member in the health and fitness field for over 20 years, I’ve witnessed countless times the power of a focused workout, injury prevention, trigger point release and deep tissue massages.
I’ve witnessed brides shine on their wedding day, middle-aged men dominate marathons, and seniors rediscover their youth.
You might be wondering how my clients achieved such milestones – beyond a slim waist or a tight core. The answer is simple: customized personal training and focus on the client goals. Keeping the client engaged in the program by once-a-month email newsletter. We also do fun Fitness Challenges serval times a year.
As founder of Body Renovation – and certified personal trainer from The National Council of Certified Trainers, my advice is: Never stop learning to have the client surpass the Fitness Goals that were set in the program. It’s also important for me to keep learning so that I can serve my clients better. As my slogan says, Building A Stronger Foundation One Client At A Time.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
1) One of the activities would be Cidercade Dallas for all the old school games and then some. 2) Spatch Kitchen and Cocktail for good food and a nice vibe. 3) I love fishing, so I’d hire a fishing guide, such as Teri Littlejohn at Lake Tawakoni which has some of the biggest catfish in Texas. 4) For some relaxing down time, we’d hang out at my family’s pool with a cookout, music and little bit of alcohol. 5) Then we’d head back to Waxahachie lake to relax and destress after a long week of activities.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shoutout my mother, Ella Mitchell, who encouraged me to start my own business, all the way back to opening my first business (a drug testing service in Statesville, NC). My wife, Karen Mitchell, who supports me in the good times and rough times and encouraged me when I opened my Personal Training Studio in University Park. BNI networking group – this group encouraged me to increase my education in the business side of my field to take my business to an even higher level. I can’t forget my clients, who also encourage me in a way to keep them healthy nutritionally and physically. I have clients who have been with from 1 year to 20 years.
