Meet Barbara J | Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Barbara Y and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Barbara, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process for starting my own business was to make a legacy for my kids and grandkids since I have been in the jewelry business for over 41 years and my children was familiar also with the jewelry business so after retiring and my husband, which is now deceased was a former Dallas fire fighter and one of my sons became a jeweler as well and my other was also familiar with everything in this world of retail and computer designs and more after my husband’s death, we decided to open up our own family Fine Jewerly and repair shop

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a proud women owned Business with her family behind her, gives me a desire to reach out and help my community. More being an owner is a blessing that I had always wanted to experience so now I have experienced and is going on to pass the torch on to my kids and grandkids. When the time comes the ages of my grandkids in my business is starting at two, three, nine and 19 years of age my grandkids are sometimes here in my store, which makes it great because they know how to greet customers pass up my business card and let the customer know that my business is named Johnsons Jewelry and Repair and say thank you
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
OK my friend, my best friend is in town we were going to hang out for the week well first we were go to my store johnsonshewe Repair said she has not been there before then we were going to hang out at maybe going having breakfast which would be at my favorite spot IHOP then we will go to Souel Cafe and Cedar Hill for lunch We will also go shopping in the galleria of Dallas Plaza. Then we’re at now for dinner and for dinner I would go to Thibodeau‘s. Which is in Duncanville Texas.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In my business mash out that goes with my children’s Dominique Johnson , Don Johnson III, Latoya Eddings, Malcolm Eddings, Jason Taylor, and all of my grand children. My family plays a great part in my business, my business first started out. Doing a healing. In my life of the passing of my husband, Don Johnson Jr, who was a former Dallas Fire, fighter, After being off from work with my husband for my previous job of over 41 years my children’s decided that I needed something to do at the my husband passes and that I already had a son that was a jeweler so we open up Johnsons Jewelry and Repair LLC
