We had the good fortune of connecting with Azu Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Azu, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I have always been a very determined person. This determination started back when I was a little kid, when I had something in mind I would make it happen. Then as a teenager I became a marathon runner which I have been enjoying for the last 25 years. Every mile was a challenge but it was the reason I kept going. I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it. I set goals, I had a plan, I had discipline to get out and train everyday, so I could reach the 26.2 miles each time, and do it faster. I think all these abilities allowed me to never give up, to keep trying, and to keep my heart happy.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I grew up drinking tea and running. I knew that after a long run, I was going to enjoy a large cup of iced tea, usually Hibiscus Tea. That was my kool-aid. I also grew up drinking and eating natural foods, cooked from scratch and relying on herbs for home remedies. I am proud to offer teas/herbs that are natural, with no artificial ingredients, and to show my customers and others that simple is better.

This business has not been easy, I started back in 2016, working many hours, many events, traveling, and knocking many doors. I remember I had been in business for 3 years and I was tired, of trying and trying to built my brand. I almost gave up. But one day, I stopped by a coffee shop, thinking here I go again, let’s see if this place would like to buy my teas. To my surprise, shop owner was looking for a tea supplier. And there I was. Two years later, TeazSol Teas is offered in 5 different coffee shops, many farmers markets, online.

My goal for 2022 is to enter the grocery stores, to reach out to more people, so they can enjoy more simple, delicious teas.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I like running but also hiking, I enjoy the outdoors. I think I would take my friends to the west Texas cities. West Texas is to me adventurous, exciting. There is a mix of different climates: desert, water streams, humid, snow. 1.- San Angelo: Concho Riverwalk , State park for a hike and camping.
2.-Hot Springs in Ruidosa Tx. to relax and enjoy the night sky.
3. Big Beng Rach State park..ready for another hike! and drive the River road and visit the Terlingua Ghost town. Eat at Taqueria El Milagro. Drink at the thirsty Goat.
4. Balmorhea State Park the famous spring fed pool, in the desert! Must try Brother’s Ice Cream Shop, to cool off.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I think my husband and kids were my cheerleaders to help my business be where it is today. There were many weekends, we all spent at farmers market, selling my teas. Many times, we traveled to other cities or states to larger events to promote TeazSol. We all had fun and we were all together working the business.

When I looked at family pictures, I find many photos of us at all the events. We all met new people, made friends and we got closer as family.
