We had the good fortune of connecting with Azanel Bonuz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Azanel, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The Goodness Captured.Photos began with a passion to capture memories and creativity through a lens. Since I was a little girl, I always enjoyed photographing our family trips and scrapbooking them to preserve the memories. My aunt would let me borrow her point and shoot camera and would print out the pictures that I would take. I would then allow the creative freedom with stickers, markers, and glue to tell a story with the photographs. About 4 years ago, my husband pushed me to create social media pages to share the photographs I had been taking. Since then, The Goodness Captured.Photos took off and is the business it is today.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I still remember the first wedding I ever photographed. I have learned a lot since then. I remember asking people how much to charge and what their process was from beginning to end. The growth from each photography session, wedding, and event reflects overcoming the challenges I faced in the beginning. My equipment, camera, and software used have also changed over time and have improved the way that I run my business. Until I had my own experiences and learned how to approach each client and session, that is when I gained the knowledge and wisdom in not finding myself in the same challenges again.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My husband and I are international foodies and would recommend Thai Terrace, Sumo Ramen, and Aladdin Cafe. These are our go-to places and 10/10 recommend! We also enjoy the Fort Worth Trinity Park to hammock, ride bikes, and take a stroll along the Trinity River. For an ideal date night, Branch & Bird is a cute rooftop restaurant in the heart of Downtown Fort Worth. There are also many cities with downtown areas that are fun to hangout at. Downtown Burleson always has events and a farmers market to check out. Downtown Grapevine is the best to go around Christmas!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband! I am so grateful for his support and always open to helping with any and all ideas I have. He comes with me to photoshoots and always carries my camera bag. My family has been supportive through it all! My Dad blessed me with my first DSLR camera and lenses and my Mom is always handing out my business cards when given the opportunity. My business would not be what it is today without God. God has taken my business to different levels and He deserves all the glory.
