Meet Aynsley Weiss | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Aynsley Weiss and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aynsley, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
From a young age I’ve been drawing doodles and creating fun patterns. Birthday and Christmas cards were the perfect opportunities to design something new and grow my repertoire.

As my abilities progressed and improved with practice, my mom encouraged me to make my art available for others to enjoy. I was initially hesitant to market my work, but after some convincing, I embraced the idea and began to create my Etsy shop.

The driving motivation behind my shop is the creation of art that is unique, positive, inspiring, and is accessible in the form of shirts, notecards, stickers, and canvas art.

I love hearing from customers how the sticker or t-shirt they purchased from my shop influenced their outlook in a positive manner throughout the day!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art has come a long way from my childhood doodles, but in many ways it is the same subject just perceived differently. My art is unique in that it captures your attention quite quickly, but requires close observation to throughly digest it. I love that you can view one of my canvases for many moments and still have more to take in. In many ways, my art creates chaos which in turn relaxes the viewer.

My brand is all about using art in your day to day to motivate your life and keep your spirit positive. In many ways this is a reflection of my own life. I work part time as a housekeeper, and spend my spare time working to bring my business to life. It’s a long haul, and can be discouraging to work so hard with only small victories. When a new canvas is finished or a new product is added to my shop…the time spent is always worth it.

The lesson I take away from all this: If it’s hard, but you love it, it will be worth it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly, I haven’t spent enough time in the city to be sure where I’d go.

But if I had to imagine a week in Dallas, I’d spend time wandering around the Dallas International Airport with a Starbucks in hand, just enjoying all the people and places they were going. Then I’d find a local mom and pop place for lunch. I’d wander around a park, or find a cool museum to stroll through. And since I love movie theaters, we’d catch a movie before calling it a night.

I’m a bit of an old soul, so all simple pleasures here!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Family has been an integral part of my business from the start. My mom encouraged me from the beginning and my siblings provide consistent encouragement, and critique every design.
