We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley M. Jenkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley M., we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting Fitness Fits YOU was to create a business that was a solution to a problem I had. About 9 years ago I became a mom and a business owner with little to no time for the gym. Over the years I would lose weight and gain it back. As my son became older and more independent, I wanted to start an in-home personal training business for busy moms and businesswomen helping them to lose weight and keep it off. Before each 30-minute training session clients were provided a 30-minute fitness, nutrition, or life coaching session to make sure their mindset was aligned with their training program. I began to realize my clients received the most impact from the coaching sessions, in turn causing their personal training to be very successful, losing at least 15lbs in 3 months. As time went on and the dynamics of my business changed, I rebranded Fitness Fits YOU to be full life coaching company with fitness and nutrition being the primary focus to help women all around the world to lose weight and keep it off.
What should our readers know about your business?
What sets me apart from other coaches is that I give people permission to lose weight slowly and learn from their mistakes and challenges. I let people know their journey is their own; to compare your journey to someone else’s without knowing their story can be detrimental to their progress. I’m also coaching individuals to understand losing weight is only the beginning of a weight loss journey. We must lose weight the way we will keep it off, so fad diets and quick fixes are not recommended.
I’m excited about the growth in the Fitness Fits YOU community on all social media platforms especially YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter. We are coming together with the same goal in mind with love and support to be healthy.
I’ve gotten where I am today because of my resilience to quitting. This has not been easy because it has been uncomfortable and challenging. I overcame these challenges through prayer and support of family and other business owners. Having a community of people to express frustrations to and aiding in developing new concepts have been priceless.
The one major lesson I have learned along with the way is to “trust the process!” Things may look as if nothing is happening for your business then out of know where someone can reach out to you and give you an opportunity that surpasses the expectations of your business growth. So “trust the process” and stay consistent with showing up in your business.
I want the world to know that I am no different from the woman sitting beside me. I have struggles, challenges, and cravings that can take me off my fitness journey as well. I am providing people coaching from my personal experiences and research. I am very transparent in my journey and a client can be just as transparent with me. My business goal is to help women lose weight and keep it off because this will have a positive impact on families, businesses, life expectancy, and the world.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give God all the glory for creating the concept and vision for Fitness Fits YOU. As many may know being on a fitness journey can be mentally and physically draining at times. In 2018 I heard the spirit of God encouraging me to take the year of 2019 and lose weight. At that time, I felt extremely overwhelmed to the challenge after years of losing weight and gaining it right back. I accepted the challenge and lost 30lbs in 3 months and managed my weight loss for a year. In 2019 God gave me the vision to start a personal training business for women like me helping them to lose weight and keep it off.
In addition to God speaking to me my mother, Karen D. Williams, was a major impact and support to Fitness Fits YOU. Because of here encouraging words, prayers, and support I couldn’t let God’s vision go when life troubles came my way.
And finally, the greatest support comes from my 9-year-old son, Treylin I. Joyner. Treylin is my biggest supporter. He encourages and supports me. He assures I am doing well mentally as a business owner and mom. He evaluates social media post, marketing videos, and client experiences in the business as well. He makes sure he is on his best because during coaching sessions so that I can be the best coach for my clients. As a mom and business owner this means the world to me.
