We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Lilburn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I feel that habits play a huge part in success! I love the book “Atomic Habits” by James Clear. In it he talks about how we can’t really think our way into new behaviors. We have to act our way into new behaviors or create systems that support the behaviors we want to continue. For example, if you want to add running into your life you are much more likely to actually execute on that if you procure the correct clothes/shoes and add the exact day/times you are going to do the running into your calendar than if you just think about wanting to run. Behavior change is actually just the implementation of small daily rituals that support the goal. For me, success has been about creating small pockets of time and being discipline with how I use that time whether it is business-related or being present with my family. My goal is always just to be fully present and efficient with the current situation in front of me. Habits of thought are another place where I find success (or not). Being really aware of what we are saying to ourselves is important and effects outcomes.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I think what sets our practice(s) apart is just how much we care about each patient, individually. I’m so proud of how all the practitioners at Fort Worth Wellness work in tandem to help our patients in their journey toward health and wellness. So much of what we each offer is what has given us healing in our personal journeys or our families’. It feels great to share from a place of personal and lived experience. Another huge bonus for our clientele is that we are perennial learners and very curious so we are constantly learning new information!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh, this is not my strong suit. I wasn’t very cool before kiddos and I’m much less cool now. I personally love a good meal and being outside so my list is pretty short! I love eating at Pacific Table, Salsa Lemon, Righteous Foods, and Little Lilli’s Sushi. I love to be outside anywhere along the Trinity River, Big Rocks Park, Mineral Wells State Park, or Sansom Park.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
SOOO many people have lifted me up and helped me! I’d love to highlight Allison Blakewell founder of Fort Worth Wellness. She has been a mentor to me, a huge advocate for me, and an encourager from the beginning. She continues to educate me and it’s fun to learn together both about our practices, our businesses, and as collaborators. I’m grateful to her and for her!
