We had the good fortune of connecting with Arthur Pichon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Arthur, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I know I wanted to start a business in where I could provide the highest value to people but at first I wasn’t sure how. So I decided that if I wanted to start a business that I should look inside of myself specifically at my passions. I knew that if I was to start a business that it would have to be something I was deeply passionate about or otherwise it would feel like another regular job. At the time, I was always a big fan of vintage 80s & 90s fashion, which had led me to heavily collecting vintage clothing. Being so involved in collecting vintage clothing led me to notice how much growth in the market had taken place online whether on social media or YouTube. The lightbulb in my head lit up and I knew instantly that I wanted to specialize in providing unique and high quality vintage clothing to people and that is how Back to Life Vintage was born.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My drive and positive mindset is what has fueled me to reach different pinnacles in life. From achieving my bachelors in Marketing from UNT in 2013 to attaining my MBA in 2020, life has given me its great share of challenges. But had it not been for God and my loved ones, I wouldn’t have achieved any of it. The funny thing about challenges and struggles is that we all have them. Often time we get so self consumed with our personal struggles, such as lack of money, not being smart enough, people failing to come through for us, that we forget that we all struggle in different ways. That really opened my eyes, when I stepped into the real world that life isn’t about the absence of problems and issues but how we react to life’s problems and issues. The positive and happiest people I’ve met weren’t the people who didn’t struggle and on the contrary they had bigger problems in their life but they weren’t defined by those problems but instead they led their lives with strong emotional management. That really taught me that to be a great leader in whatever I chose to do with my life, that I had to be great at not necessarily selling a product or a service for a company or for my business but to be great at selling myself. Being a marketer for 8 years has shown me that you could have the best product but if you don’t align it with the best service then you’re easily expendable. For Back to Life Vintage, we didn’t just want to be another vintage shop selling shirts, but instead we wanted to focus on prioritizing strong customer relationships, amazing rapport, and outstanding customer service.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
After living in Dallas for 8 years, I can humbly call it my home. It is home to some of the greatest views and best tacos this city has to offer. If you’re in town you have to make sure you grab some tacos from La Ventana, and if you go to their Uptown location be sure to check out the Perot Museum, where science comes alive! A trip to Dallas isn’t complete without grabbing tickets to see a Mavs game at American Airlines Center where the vibe is unreal to witness and afterwards you can go relax and hang out at the Katy Trail Icehouse. The trip is not complete without stopping at the Margaret Hunt Hill bridge where you can calmly walk and take a cool pic in front of the gorgeous Dallas Skyline!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost I would like to give thanks to God because without him none of this would be possible. Secondly, I’d like to give thanks to my girlfriend Jessica and my family for pushing me and encouraging me whether it was helping me buy my first clothing racks or helping me sell at events. I’m deeply grateful to have a strong support system such as them that celebrate with me as my business has continued to reach different milestones.
