Meet Ariel Hutchins | Singer/Songwriter/Recording Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariel Hutchins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ariel, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The music is the undeniable starting point for us…… selecting each song and realizing it’s full potential is the mission we’re on. But what that takes goes well beyond what might seem to be a simple decision. It takes a team of top, tireless and fully committed talent quite literally from the beginning to the end of what is a complicated, trying and highly competitive process. My team is undoubtedly the most important factor behind my success. I am blessed to be surrounded by top industry veterans who work daily to develop and further my brand. Taking one song successfully from concept to commerce is no easy feat but repeating that process over and over (within the context of a business model that builds a brand) requires a group effort. I could never do this standing alone. I may be the voice, the face and
the personality of my brand but I am not its sole creator and promulgator by any stretch of the imagination.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art revolves around the creation and delivery of a song. I have written and performed my own music for years and I have done so without seeing it as a career but rather as a passion. My husband and I have a very young family so being a wife and mother superseded any musical aspirations career-wise I might have had otherwise after high school. And then, a year ago, a friend of mine was recording at Big Note Studio in Abilene and Terry Mashburn, Big Note’s owner and resident producer, happened to play a song for him that was being mixed. My friend asked if the songwriter might let me have a shot at singing it……
she said she’d allow me a pass and the rest is history. That song is “Wine Won’t Work”. It was my first recording and it went to number one on Texas radio. That song introduced me to my team and since then I’ve had a second number one, a duet with Sundance Head called “Showing Off” and our third release, “The Cowboy He Will Be” is currently #3 on the charts and climbing as well. These songs have
literally set records for me….. It’s been a whirlwind of awards and performances and appearances and creation and production……Music has become a career and as such necessitates a delicate balance
between those demands and my responsibility and accountability to my family. That balance has been the biggest challenge but its the priority and everyone around me sees and supports that so I’m beyond blessed. Bottom line though is its still my passion and that will never change whether I’m noodling on my guitar in my living room after the kids are in bed or rocking it on stage somewhere out there in Texas!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d take them around our little town first. We have one stoplight but we have a couple great restaurants everyone hangs out at so we’d crash a lunch table or two and hang out with my locals over Mexican food (my favorite). We’d go with my husband to feed and manage our cattle and depending on the time of year that can be a huge job to help with. We might even have to ditch our itinerary and catch the dang bull who gets out from time to time or saddle up and look for a missing cow and calf. We’d definitely rodeo! My son rodeos as do all of our family and friends so that’s always on the agenda. We might go into Abilene to say hi to friends at radio or Terry at Big Note. We’d go wherever I might be performing with the band…. generally just do what I do cuz something always comes up to divert my best-laid plans

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Family, Friends, Fans, Radio, Venues, fellow artists, songwriters, musicians, producers, publicists, artists, media…… the Village it takes!
