We had the good fortune of connecting with Arena Adanandus and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Arena, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Ever since I was a young girl, I have possessed an unwavering desire to become an entrepreneur. The prospect of dedicating my time and efforts towards building my own business, with aspirations as grand as those held by industry giants like Apple, Coca Cola, and Ford, has always resonated deeply with me. However, my journey towards achieving this dream took an unexpected turn when I became a parent at the age of 18. As a result, the path to entrepreneurship became a bit more complex and challenging than initially anticipated. Despite the responsibilities and demands that accompanied early parenthood, I never allowed myself to lose sight of my aspirations. I remained steadfast in my determination, patiently waiting for the right opportunity to present itself. When that pivotal moment finally arrived, I seized it with unwavering resolve and embraced the path of entrepreneurship without hesitation.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I originally started doing lashes in California in the Bay Area where I was born and raised. I thought i would take off really quick because I’m known in my area . But that was not the case . Still wanting to be great I still worked at it. Doing lash extensions is a really tedious profession. I didn’t know how I was gone get better but I knew if I kept goin it would get greater later. So before I made any money lashing I would do all of my family for free. At that point I knew it wasn’t just about the money with me it was about perfection. From presentation to how I run my business I had to perfect it. The more I practice on family and friend the better I got with timing , professionalism and satisfaction from my clients. As I got better I opened up my own space. I started getting paid bookings, but not as many . I was discouraged but I kept propelling . I start working on my marketing which I found fun at the same time . I went to visit my sister regularly in Dallas , and on one of my visits I told myself “This feels like home” from that day forward I started researching my move to Dallas I looked up schools for my kids , Areas To lash in and a overall a better environment then what I was already in. I wrote thing down and dates to to execute each goal for my mission . And I would check them all as I went, until one day I was packing my uhaul and kids up and leaving . I was kind of sad about losing my regular clients although there wasn’t a lot but we built friendships. They understood growth and my desires they wished me well . I jumped out on faith and left and trusted everything would work out fine and so far this has been one of the biggest risk I’ve taken this far I’m happy with results

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were to come visit our first stop would be Pangea it’s a soul food restaurant in Garland tx, the food and drinks are so good. Then we would go down to the deep ellum and go to bitter end for a little night life maybe check out some live music at freeman’s . Next day we would go eat at Kitchen + Koctails downtown Dallas the food and drinks are amazing . She loves shopping so we’d go to north park mall or galleria . after we’d party at club xtc in Dallas probably until they close. Next day we probably go to Al beignets in north Dallas for lunch then probably go hang in the colony for a little fun. After we would go to Eddie vs in Dallas for dinner. The rest of the week I would probably entertain at home I can cook really good and make good drinks at home . And have a lot of adult board games. Lol

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank my family and close friends for always supporting me, and pushing me every step of the way. It would be days I would get discouraged and my sisters/cousins or even my best friend would give me that push I need to get me back going and I’ll forever show my gratitude.
