Meet Apollonia McFadden | Mobile Mixoligist/Mompreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Apollonia McFadden and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Apollonia, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I ever had to make was taking a chance on myself. It may sound crazy, but It takes a lot of courage to quit your job with guaranteed income. Working for yourself is a gamble and being a single parent while doing so can be very stressful. I was completely unsure how things would go but I was confident in my work ethic so I took a chance.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?\McFadden Bartending is a mobile bartending service that offers bartenders, event staff (Servers, Cocktail servers, and Clean up staff), and day of coordinators for any type of event. We have worked meet-ups, corporate functions, birthday parties, weddings, etc. What sets us apart from others is our Professional, Proficient, and Polite services. No task is too small for us to do. Even if we are hired as a bartender we will still jump in and help set up tables, pick up trash or lend a hand to caterers if needed.
I got to where I am today with the help of others and the internet. Online platforms like The Bash (formerly Gigmasters), Facebook and Instagram helped me get clients. Although most of my clients are word of mouth. Surprisingly, prior to Covid it was very easy to get bookings. My first 2 years were very successful. When Covid hit we took a loss. Without people having events or parties we had to get creative. We started to sell punches to-go in order to make money. People definitely wanted punches delivered to them. So we pushed through the pain.
I have learned that being a business owner has its ups and downs. Always prepare for the worst. Show up as your best self whether you are winning or losing. I also learned that sometimes your biggest supporters are strangers. Go to every networking event you can. You never know who you will run into.
I want the world to know that McFadden Bartending is just the start of what Apollonia McFadden has to offer. I have developed other businesses and have launched Apollonia McFadden Concepts LLC. McFadden Bartending is my baby and has taught me how to be a business owner. AMC LLC will offer Logistic services for Truck Drivers and Notary Services for people in need of a Signing Agent or Mobile Notary.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m always so busy so I never really go out. In the event I was forced to entertain we would have a pre-party at my house I mean I make the best cocktails of course. I would start with Bishop Arts on a Friday with drinks at Casa Blanca. Saturday day, I would suggest lunch or brunch with a little live music over at The Rustic. If they wanted a late night vibe I would suggest Shisha Hookah Lounge on a Saturday night. The Nigerian club scene is an experience of a lifetime. I would definitely take them to Deep Ellum for Sunday Funday. Brunch at Ebb and Flow. Stirr for a day party vibe or Vidorra for a little latin flair. For more of a chill vibe I would suggest a cute little hidden gem Lee Harveys for cheap drinks and that neighborhood bar feel. For adventure I would suggest Ziplining at Trinity Forest Adventure Park or a Helicopter tour at Delta Charlies. Monday Through Thursday are school nights so no entertaining guests for me on those days.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are a few people that I would love to Shout out for my success. Each Individual contributed to the growth of not only McFadden Bartending but to Apollonia as an entrepreneur.
Chastity Higgins owner of Chas Mone’ Esthetics is my business consultant and team member. She helped build Mcfadden Bartending from the ground up literally. From the paperwork to bartending events.
Jasmin Brand, founder of Her Texas, encouraged me to go as hard as possible for what I love. She booked me consistently and even offered Marketing advice. Her meet-ups for female entrepreneurs connected me to so many wonderful women.
Ebony Smith of Yoga N Da Hood helped me on the mental, emotional and spiritual side. She taught me to meditate, always bet on yourself, do what makes you happy (ALWAYS) and allow the universe to do its work.
It truly takes a village.
