We had the good fortune of connecting with Antonio Washington and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Antonio, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
“No guts, No glory”, Is something I’ve always believed and understood wholeheartedly. The idea of chance is something that is negatively taken due to the unknown or what some call as “the fall”or failure, But being terrified and or resistant against failure is honestly true failure. The risk is what makes the situation worthwhile, It’s what fuels the moment because you don’t know The outcome. You have some that think it’s not going to work, it can’t happen to me but in honest opinion for myself the confidence that brews from it I embrace it, You can’t run from it, and You can’t hide. Without risk a lot of the things, People, and or situations we see wouldn’t have been achieved.

I took the chance not knowing where it would lead me, There were times when I felt self doubt, but staying true to GOD and myself I knew that the only way for me was up, Despite those telling me it’s no chance or there’s no possible way for you to gain that, the lack of support, or just steadily hearing that’s not a real career path it’s only 1 in 100 Etc. But in my personal opinion I was that one, I had to take the leap, I had to keep showing up. You can’t achieve or obtain your goal without the risk.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m an artist, My art contains the ability and creativity of story telling and bringing a character to life that is able to fully differentiate from my life and or every day situations. To fully grasp the mind of a character, what they would do, How they would do, When and who they are, The unconscious/conscious gestures, Their movements so all in all fully embodying someone who is not myself and portraying to a point where I’m lost in them.

What separates me from those around me I feel as though I’m versatile in my approach, That I show range in my characters , as well as depth, that I’m able to give the audience along with myself a different version of me, my goal is to leave having to shown myself and those around me someone completely and utterly different than the project worked before.

Where I am today really took dedication and understanding of what an actual dream is, What goals are and what is going to have to be sacrificed to get to this pinnacle of success. I took the leap when those around me where afraid. I did it broke, I did it hungry, i did it with continuous doubt, but I never quit I continued to do it, It’s the risk of failure but understanding that success is on the other side if you want it bad enough; was it easy ? Nothing easy is worth having, if that was the case everyone would have it or be able to obtain it. If you’re not at a point of sacrifice then I don’t believe this is something for you.

The lessons I’ve learned is that if you honing in and really in the business of developing yourself along with your craft. While having a mindset that has been humbled, you can’t fail. No matter the no’s , The countless auditions, The trips with no accommodations, Just you and the journey you will always be exactly where you need to be, it only takes one Yes.

What I want you to know about me, I’m coming to break down walls and open doors for us. It’s me vs me but I’m coming to be the greatest to ever touch screen, Play with me if you want.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well off top if we are going around the city and just on something vibrant and chill start the day at this Breakfast/Brunch spot called snooze. place the mimosa’s in your system to get you loosened up just a bit then after nice lil scenic route around Lake ridge in cedar hill to relax the mind a bit take in the view, highland park in Dallas whichever peaks your interest first , Stop by HEIGHTS DISTRICT see if I can get STYLEDBYNATE to pick you out something you can be seen in for the night, really a cruise around downtown Dallas depending on what’s wanting to be done. Dinner spots Either we are heading to Drakes, Al Biernats, The 48th floor, Saint Rocco’s, Dakota’s , Nick and Sams, carbones, Lolo’s chicken and waffles etc. depending on the vibes really, and end it off on the roof of the Statler at the bar. I can’t give away to many of them but with what I gave make sure you use it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost the first shout out will always go to GOD, Without him I am nothing, He planted the seed, my objective was to deliver what was needed. “I can do all this through him who gives me strength”

Second, To Dr. Cristal Chantelle Truscott, When the dark times felt still and I was not able to see my own light, Thank you for holding the torch and leading me out, With out you, none of this would be possible. you will forever be a blessing in my life.

And to the woman who carried me through, Encouraged me to continue to chase my dream, And spoke life into me when I was not able to see the value in myself, who birthed me, Loved me and never let me take my eye off the end goal To Jackie hall, thank you from the bottom of my heart & you will forever get your recognition and I love you Thank you, Thank you.
