We had the good fortune of connecting with Antoinette C. Corbin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Antoinette C., what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose an artistic/creative career for two reasons. One, that career path allows for freedom and flexibility as it relates to how and when and how much I’m producing material and content. Two, being a creative is the highest form of self-expression for me, and I love using my imagination to produce work that entertains and inspires others.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m an author and motivational speaker from the MS Delta. I write under (Author) Toni Chevelle, that is my brand. My writing covers many subjects, including poetry; however, fiction is my passion. I started creating characters and stories with my sister, growing up playing with Barbies. By my junior year of high school, I knew I wanted to write books. It would be some 30 years later though, before the opportunity to publish would present itself. From that 30 year delay I learned that it’s never too late to pursue your dream.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For dining, we’d check out Honey’s, Freddie’s BBQ, No Way Jose, El Toro, and Ole Miss. Nelco Theater would be our stop for a good movie;
Definitely stopping at Trop and Harlows casinos for a little gaming;
And there’s always shopping at the Greenville Mall.
The downtown area is also great for shopping and exploring, including the Greenville History Museum.
