We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Kimbrell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anna, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want people to remember me for the way that I give back to the sport that’s given me so much. One of my favorite things about doing what I do is watching the kids I coach have success especially when it’s something I’ve taught them and watched them work on. I have been lucky enough to play baseball for so long at a high level, and I feel like it’s only right to share the knowledge I have for the game to the generation following me.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Something that sets me apart from others is how long I’ve been able to play a spot that I love. I’ve heard “no” or that “girls don’t belong in baseball” my whole life. The road to get where I am has always been a challenge, but I’m thankful I’ve had those challenges to teach me how to be relentless. I’ve always found an open door every time one has closed. There’s always another opportunity around the corner, sometimes it just takes us a little longer to find that path. I want the world to know that no matter what, you can always keep dreaming and keep believing that opportunities are coming your way. If you keep putting out good vibes in the world, they will be returned to you typically in a much greater form than you ever imagined. If you work hard and dream big, anything is possible.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite places to visit is of course going to be the Rangers ballpark and Texas live. The brisket at Texas live was fantastic.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family, friends, and all of the coaches who have supported my passion along the way. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the love and support of my family and friends as well as the coaches who gave me an opportunity to play a game I love along the way.
