We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Finkenbinder Lynda Weaver and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anna Finkenbinder, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Lake & Country Realty was founded on the belief that exceptional real estate service comes from specialization, deep local knowledge, and true community involvement.

Anna and Lynda met when Anna was teaching yoga, and what began as a friendship quickly grew into a shared vision. As ranch owners and operators themselves, they understood that farm, ranch, lake, and lifestyle properties require far more than a traditional real estate approach.

Based on what was available to brokers at the time, they didn’t feel there was a traditional, larger brokerage that fully supported the specialized way they wanted to serve their clients and communities. They envisioned a boutique firm built by specialists—one that prioritized quality over quantity and empowered agents to work with intention and integrity.

From the beginning, it was important that every agent at Lake & Country Realty be immersed in the local areas they serve, including Lake Kiowa and throughout North Texas. That firsthand knowledge allows the team to provide insightful, relationship-driven service with a strong community feel—long after the transaction is complete.

Our focus is on our agents’ success, supporting each other, and our community. Our goal is to attract like-minded agents who share our aspirations, values, and commitment to serving clients and our community beyond the transaction. Lake & Country Realty was created to meet a need—for clients seeking knowledgeable representation and for agents seeking a brokerage aligned with their values.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Challenges We Faced While Starting Lake & Country Realty

Starting a boutique brokerage came with its unique set of challenges. Anna needed to obtain her broker’s license, and we navigated the process of rebranding and trademarking our brand to create something truly our own. Finding the right team was critical—from discovering our amazing office manager to recruiting phenomenal agents who shared our values and vision.

We also had to learn how to delegate the responsibilities of running a brokerage, identifying the right people to help the business grow, and building systems that would allow a small boutique team to operate at a remarkable level of success—all so we could focus on our clients and provide them with the highest level of service. Each step required patience, persistence, and careful decision-making, but these efforts laid the foundation for the thriving, community-focused, and highly specialized brokerage Lake & Country Realty is today.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
At Lake & Country Realty, we love to entertain and connect with friends and clients, making relationships a central part of everything we do. Our focus is on the horse community, which is a tight-knit and passionate network here in North Texas—the heart of Quarter Horse country in the world, and the very place that drew us all to the area. Lynda came from Australia and Anna from Minnesota, yet both found a shared passion for the land, horses, and lifestyle here.

Our agents come from a wide range of horse disciplines, including online horse sales, barrel racing, reining, halter, pleasure, and more. One of our agents also owns a business that flies horses to and from other countries, providing a truly global perspective on the equine industry. We also have two agents who hold their Oklahoma real estate licenses, allowing us to serve clients seamlessly across state lines. Our Lake Kiowa specialist, who grew up in the community, is a top producer with unmatched local expertise. We’ve had the pleasure of introducing many clients to Lake Kiowa, as well as surrounding lakes such as Lake Ray Roberts and Lake Texoma.

We love sharing the area’s diverse lifestyle—bringing clients to horse shows, enjoying meals at Lovejoy’s or Clark’s Bar-B-Q, shopping at Dennards, heading to the Fort Worth Stockyards, wine tasting at local wineries, or visiting Winstar and Choctaw casinos. These experiences allow clients to truly experience the culture, community, and lifestyle that make North Texas so special.

This deep immersion in both the horse and lake communities allows us to serve our clients with insight, experience, and a genuine connection that goes far beyond a typical real estate transaction.
