We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anna, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My goal was to find a career that allowed me to make my own schedule and work at my own pace so that I would have the flexibility to continue to be a full time mom while I was working. Starting my own business was the solution to my concerns about working again.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I got to where I am through persistence and lots of support. It has not always been easy trying to build a business with two babies under two. Finding the right time to work while also being a mom at home has been challenging but now that I am in a routine it has been smooth sailing. The wedding planning industry has also been kind to me as a mom. There are many mom’s I have met along the way, who are all very helpful and strong and inspiring. Being able to set my own hours and working with vendors who are understanding when things come up in my home life has been an amazing help as well.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I always want to start my day off with coffee, so naturally I would take them to my favorite coffee shop, which is Filtered up in McKinney. As far as hangouts go, I prefer laid back places where I can grab a drink. Parliament is my favorite bar in Dallas with such amazing people that work there. I also enjoy the Balcony Club for jazz music and cocktails, it’s a really enjoyable environment.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wonderful man deserves the credit of a shoutout. He encouraged me to take a chance on started a business and provided the support I needed. Whenever I doubted the idea, he was there to push me forward and give me extra help with our kids when I needed time to focus.
