We had the good fortune of connecting with Angie Insinna and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angie, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor to the success of my personal brand has been staying true to myself and my uniqueness. I always want to be aunthentic and use my platform as an extension of my personality. I feel like viewers can really tell when your content is expressive of your true personality and that is why I have never shyed away from keeping it real on the internet. I want to resonate with my audience and form real connections.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I first got into makeup artistry when I was barely a preteen and finally got access to YouTube. I started by watching tutorial videos and practicing on myself. Years and years later, I began professionally taking makeup clients at various counters such as Dior and MAC, as well as in some hair salons. Being in the beauty industry sparked my interest to take on modeling. I figured I had the skills to do my own makeup and hair, and was able choose my own outfits to create great looks to shoot. I have always considered myself to have a good eye when it comes to aesthetically pleasing content, which is why I really enjoy creating on Instagram. Being able to express myself artistically has always been an emotional outlet for me which is so important for mental health. I would say the hardest part of being in the beauty industry is the potential negative impact it can have on self image. Working as a model, makeup artist, and for a plastic surgeon can really cloud your sense of self and make you question what you really like about yourself. I combat this by journaling, taking time outside away from my computer, and spending time with people who have a positive impact on my energy and remind me why I am loved just as I am. I am very excited to expand my modeling career as I take on more and more opportunities and increase my confidence in front of the camera.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a no-brainer! We would definitely have to visit the Crú wine bar in Watters Creek. They have an amazing wine selection and a delicious brunch menu! Afterward we’d do some shopping around the square and pop in to the Kendra Scott boutique to get matching necklaces. Another day we would 100% have to stop in to the Dallas arboretum and take in the sunshine and gorgeous views. I love that it sits right on White Rock Lake that adds to the great atmosphere of the area. Since all of my friends are baddies, we’d have to stay in a place known for self care and relaxation, so the Adolphus hotel in Dallas would be a must. We could spend a whole day in the spa and by the pool, and even try high tea at The French Room! For an energetic send off, we would spend the last night of the trip in Deep Ellum catching live music or dancing the night away at Blüm.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There have been so many amazing people who have dedicated love, energy and labor toward the successes in my life, but I want to give a special moment to my dad who has always been a huge supporter! He has always been in my corner and supported so many of my goals and encouraged me to dream bigger. I also want to give a special shoutout to all of my friends, whose unwavering love and positive energy has been my motivation through the highs and lows. I love you guys!
