We had the good fortune of connecting with Angeline Pedrosa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angeline, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my own business partly out of necessity and partly because I wanted autonomy and the ability to really develop my skills without limitations. I wanted to be able to work with clients on my own terms and provide services with a upscale level of professionalism and care. As a creative, I knew how important being able to work freely is. The freedom to work independently is essential to creativity and performance. I now have the ability to provide stellar services for my clients and really provide looks that are modern but still classic. I wanted to be able to provide value to my clients by being able to help them address any issues before their event. I take extra care and steps to make my clients feel and know they are heard and valued.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started my career in New York City over 10 years ago, being a native born and raised New Yorker, I grew up in the northern section of Manhattan and at a young age I was exposed to all things beauty and fashion. I was completely obsessed with makeup so I eventually changed career’s to pursue makeup artistry as an adult.

What sets me apart from many in this industry is that I always take the time to get to know my clients. I take the time to ask them questions so I am able to understand what they really actually want versus what they think they want. This makes a world of a difference in my clients satisfaction. Many times clients say they want a certain look but as a professional I am able to properly discern what look will actually function based on their features, likes and dislikes. I then educate and consult my client on my professional advice as to what will be the best look for them and because of this I have clients who have become loyal clients and now hire me for all their events. I provide a luxury service that provides value and care to my clients. I treat my clients the way I would want to be treated and always strive to give them a better service then the one before each time. I never feel as though i know it all, i always strive to improve my skill by keeping up with updated makeup courses, learning new trends and techniques.

I learned that like everything in life a business needs time to nurture and grow to be sustainable. Nothing is easy or fast, we must work hard and be consistent through the failures and achievements in order to see a real breakthrough and achieve success. It’s how we deal with the rough times, the failures and move forward that leads to success in many areas of life including career’s.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love taking friends and family to different areas around dallas, like bishop arts and deep ellum for local shops and great little eateries that are not chain or franchises. As a native NYC transplant, i value small businesses and try to support local whenever i can. I also love karaoke so thats always on my list of places to hang out.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom Lourdes, who without her love and constant care, i would not be alive today.
