We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Smayda and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angela, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Success is not reached by any one person. It is a shared result. I would not be where I am in my life without the support of my faith, family, and clients. Therefore, my success is not my own.

I rely heavily on my faith to provide for my business, rejoicing in the ups and downs and it allows me to pray for each of my clients’ wellbeing, health, and happiness. My family is the backbone of everything I do in life. They offer encouragement, a listening ear, and a reason to never give up. Finally, my clients give me an opportunity to love people. It is with great honor to help them achieve their goals whether it’s improving their activity of choice, getting up and down off the floor while playing with their grandchildren, or just simply feeling good and moving without pain throughout their day. Their achievement is the greatest gift I can receive.

So, what is the most important factor behind my success? It belongs to those around me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have always had a desire to help others. I set out to do so with a career in Therapuetic Recreation. I loved my work and found great joy in helping others overcome obstacles. As our family began to grow, my path shifted to caring for our children and becoming a full-time mom. I was incredibly blessed and grateful to have spent so much time with them but was eager to begin work outside the home as they became older.
I wanted to get back to helping others achieve their goals. While utilizing my therapeutic background and my knowledge from being a competitive athlete, understanding the importance of not just skill, but movement, I decided to try something new. I began helping other fellow athletes move better through stretching and focusing on their mobility.
This led me to working with one of Fort Worth’s top chiropractors I owe Dr. Brian Mulhall of Active Spine and Sport Therapy a HUGE THANK YOU! He opened his door to me and trusted me to help his clients for close to 6 years. I have since moved on and started The Mobility Workshop. It has been scary, exciting, and incredibly rewarding.
The Mobility Workshop offers a one-on-one guided stretching/mobility session and/or sessions to provide each client with an individual, goal-specific plan. While it’s not a cookie-cutter approach nor a one size fits all, I apply a standard framework to assess each client. After assessment and learning of the client’s goals, a tailored set of assisted movements are assigned.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have to say, I’m kind of a homebody. My idea of spending time with a friend is talking over a great cup of coffee or playing board or card games. If I had to pick a favorite place to go, it would be Marble Slab Creamy. I love ice cream! I have enjoyed Marble Slab since I was a teenager. The frequency of my visits has gone from once a week to once a year on my birthday. In my opinion, they serve the BEST REAL ice cream around!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Extra shoutout to my husband, Jay. He is the most sound, patient, and steadfast person I know. His support is unwavering.
