Meet Angel Nuño | Cyber Security Engineer & Photographer/Digital Media Editor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Nuño and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angel, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My Work life balance has changed over the years. There were times where finding time to do any kind of photography or photo editing was near impossible because of work, to times like in college where it seemed like I had nothing but time. My thoughts on work life balance haven’t changed though. Work is important, but it shouldn’t consume your personal life. There will be times and moments where work is a priority, but what people need to understand and sometimes forget, is that most things are hard before they are ever easy. If something brings you joy in life like taking pictures or creating content like I do, you’ll find the time to do it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
While photography and digital media is rightfully my true passion, my professional career I feel is something I never thought I’d actually see myself doing full time. There are many young minds today that are in the field of IT and Cyber Security and I felt as though I was captivated at a really young age by computers and technology. Right down to the minute details like hardware specs and how applications worked with a network: it was fascinating. I can proudly say I ultimately got myself where I am today in my professional career. Of course, I can’t take all the credit because I felt as though I was molded by so many influencers such as my computer information courses and teachers in High School. I don’t know many highschools that offer such courses and that was readily available to me. Another example is my first boss out of college, who put himself out on the line to offer me such a rare opportunity to enter a role not many 21 year olds can fathom getting once they graduate college. Don’t get me wrong, it was a challenge for sure. I had to prove myself with time and especially knowledge; that I was capable of keeping the job. If there is any lesson I can pass along, it is that if you’re hungry for something, don’t stop. Your dreams ultimately just end up being dreams if you never work for them. Despite this, don’t let them consume you. You’re only human and our time here on earth is limited. Don’t let it go to waste.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh wow ok.. so personally if im looking to have a good time, Cowboys Red River never fails to be a good time. I love dancing. There and New West I would say are good places to go if you’re trying to tear up the dance floor (2-step that is).
If you’re looking to enjoy the good outdoors and it isn’t a thousand degrees, I would recommend going to the park like Arbor Hills Nature preserve or biking around White Rock Lake.
As far as food man.. I think Dallas has it all. Burgers from Rocket Burger or Twisted Root..can’t go wrong. BBQ from Terry Black’s always slaps. Ramen from Wabi House is good… Oh and I It’s technically not Texas based but the rolls from Texas Roadhouse… man I could go just for that.
If you’re trying to check out anything I’d say there’s lots of bar districts here too. I find myself checking out Bishop Arts and lower Greenville more often compared to the Gotham City that is Deep Ellum.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are many people I wish I could give a shout out to because I feel as though I’ve been molded by most people I’ve really gotten to know. From Highschool teachers, Professors, coworkers, friends and family, ex girlfriends.. I would say my parents were the most motivational and supporting people to this date. Without their encouragement and loving support I’m certain I wouldn’t be where I am today.
