We had the good fortune of connecting with Anesia Renee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anesia, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’ll start this answer off with a scripture : “For I know the plans I have for you , declares the Lord” Jeremiah 29:11. I know that God placed several gifts in me and for a long time I tried to ignore it. It wasn’t until I fully embraced God and who I was that I realized my “why”. I am an artist and an entrepreneur because it’s simply who I am as a person . All thanks to God that I am able to live it out .

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
There are two parts of the “Anesia Renee” brand currently (as I’m always looking to grow as God leads me ) . The first being my artistry . I’ve been playing the piano and singing since I was 6 and have had many opportunities working with people in the music industry. I decided to embark on my solo career and anticipate releasing my first EP late 2021. I wrote the EP to inspire young women that even tho heartbreak can happen , real love exists , primarily through God and loving ourselves. The other part that I’ve been focusing on is the recent launch of my clothing brand Plush Boutique . Being a curvy woman all my life , I wanted to reflect my personal style and personality through clothing for women who look like me ! I’m proud that the lead singer from “Tank and The Bangas “ has recently posted in one of the dresses from my brand . It’s always dope when someone with a huge platform supports your vision. I’d love to open a store one day and employ fellow young fashion creatives and models .

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In a world where COVID didn’t exist we would most definitely hit an open mic or live show ! Skewers, Crave (which I host every Thursday ) and Elm Street Lounge are just a couple venues that comes to mind where you can definitely hear some talented musicians and singers . As far as restaurants Kanki all day lol (im a regular there ) . Brunch vibes I would have to suggest STIR. I believe that Raleigh is definitely up and coming with things to do . It has a different vibe for everyone .

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Besides God, I have to recognize my mother Gwendolyn Reed. My mother is a life coach and business owner of Touching you Through The Arts Ministries (so I guess I get it naturally ) . Focusing more so on who she is as a person outside of being my mom is a woman of God, tenacity, grace , and creativity . I look up to her in every way. My mother has always told me to “keep my chin up , and to always trust God”.
