We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Weempe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
For myself, music is the only way for me to get a point across clearly. And to have real meaning and purpose behind my words. It’s the only way I feel comfortable saying anything I need to say. I’ve always struggled with talking and having a real conversation with others as a kid. So now that I’ve found that one thing that lets me do that, i feel that pursuing a career out of it is the best thing for not only me but everyone around me. Now for other people, it’s more of a helping hand thing. When people listen to music, they listen to get them out of the world they live in and put them in a world they see as perfect. That’s what my goal is. It’s to make people realize that they are not stuck in the spots their in and that their life can become more than they could imagine. Every one of us struggle with that I think. We all feel lost at some point and we’re just looking for something that makes us feel somewhat purposeful and significant. And music is something that can bring you to that place when you think your lost in your own mind.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Honestly, I’m not sure what sets me apart from others. I’m just myself at all times. So it’s kind of hard to pin point what makes me different when all I’m doing is being true to me. And that’s really what I’m most proud of. Me being me. Despite how things around me are changing I’m still able to recognize who I am. And I have done a lot with music that I’m proud of; like flying to different states and performing, meeting certain people as I travel, opening up shows for other big artist, creating a strong fan base and foundation that’s shows me love even when it’s not asked for. But if I’m not who really am, all of that is irrelevant. And as far as how I got to where I am, I’m not sure. All i do is upload music, build a friendship with people I’ve never met that eventually listen to my music and become a fan. I’m not the most social person but I like meeting new people and seeing who they are as a person. Which is why I build the certain connections I do. So for the most part, it’s been easy so far but I still have a long way to go from here. I’ve only scratched the surface of what I’m getting into. And of course there’s been challenges and lessons learned. Lesson 1 is never lose sight on why you started doing this. Because once you lose that vision, you’ll lose the purpose of everything you created. Lesson 2 is keep only a small amount of a certain people around you. You become the company you keep. And lesson 3 is regardless of how much support and love you get or don’t get, you always show love to anybody around you. A little love goes a long way for a lot of people. That’s the one thing I need everyone to know about me. That no matter how much you may feel like your not loved, they’ll always have my support. That’s what I stand on. That’s what my brand is. It’s love. And like I said, music is the only way I feel comfortable saying what I need to say, and it’s also the best way of me shedding light on dark spots. All I want is to bring peace to people that need it. Everybody needs someone to show them what peace of mind is. Too many people struggle with their own thoughts and circumstances and everybody is so caught up in themselves that they forget everyone else feels the same way or has been through similar things as they have. I believe peace is all anyone needs. As long as your able to keep your head steady and keep calm in chaotic situations, you’ll lead a promising life for you and the ones who come after you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not much of a going out person, but there’s a lot to do here in Dallas tx. The first place we’re going is obviously the Dallas ball. Nothing can beat the view up there. As far as food goes, bbq and Mexican food is your best bet. I’ll drive them down to this local Mexican restaurant “ Gonzalez” in pleasant grove. Their homemade tortillas, GO STUUUPID!! Now drinking is different. I only drink water cause I’m boring, but if your not from the south, than you know NOTHING about sweet tea. Better than any alcohol you’ll ever drink. ON ZO!! And to hang out, there’s this crazyyy view of Dallas on the top of a hill like 10 minutes away from the city. The skyline view is perfect. Go there just chill with whoever you bring. The only problem is that it’s off the side of the freeway so you can’t park nowhere unless you wanna risk getting towed, which it’s worth is for sure. But any where you go in Dallas you’ll find something to do. If you like to party and get drunk, there’s the Deep Ellum bar strip that has pretty much any bar you could think of. They have a emo bar, high class bars, arcade bar, clubs like Vivo, club 9, trees etc. But if you more of a chill homebody kind of person, we got hiking places, a lot of coffee shops and also we got the Texas state fair. There’s a lot of people that go but you’ll find everything. The best thing they got is these big turkey legs. They gonna cost you about a good 40 but I promise you that turkey leg always smacks!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
