We had the good fortune of connecting with Andres Barreiro and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andres, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Listening to your support group, keeping an open mind to the opinions of your guests and loved ones, and most importantly having a strong faith and putting God first. My support group always wants me to succeed as well as most of our guests, so if they ever have suggestions or ideas I always try to keep an open mind and not get to stubborn.
Putting God first gives me the confidence and peace that if I try my best and treat people with kindness and love everything will turn out alright.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I grew up working in this business, but it all started with my mom in 1996 as Potpourri of Silk, specializing in wedding and quinceañera cakes in Oak Cliff’s Bishop Arts District. After graduating from culinary school in Austin in 2011 and gaining experience through my travels, we reimagined the business in 2015 as Potpourri Boulangerie.
After graduating from culinary school in Austin in 2011 and gaining experience through my travels, we reimagined the business in 2015 as Potpourri Boulangerie. We modernized this concept by blending classic baking with tea and seasonal treats, creating something truly unique. Inspired by my time in Montreal and Quebec, we’ve since evolved into the curated tea house you see today, offering seasonal menus, handcrafted pastries, and custom-blended teas.

I’ve always been inspired by my family, friends, my travels to Montreal, and my love for music, food, and thoughtful pairings. I wanted to create a space where people could relax, connect, and enjoy those “special tea moments.” Afternoon tea felt like the perfect way to do that—blending delicious food and curated teas to create a unique experience.

Afternoon tea is usually all about scones and a tea tower, but we’ve taken it a step further. We’ve created a space where you can slow down, relax, and really enjoy time with each other.
The experience lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours and includes five chef-curated courses, each paired with our custom tea blends. It’s the perfect way to catch up, celebrate, and just enjoy good food and great company in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oak cliff and Bishop arts district for sure. We have lots of great restaurants, boutiques and fun Dallas landmarks here. Its my home town feel its the most cool vibe in most of Dallas.

Cedar Hill area to go for a hike at the state park. I love being outdoors and that is the most hilly area of Dallas.

White rock lake area is beautiful and there are lots of fun things to do in the area. The arboretum is near by and my favorite book store “the big” Half price books is just down the road, its the headquarters location.

Carrolton for the awesome Asian cuisine scene they have! Its a bit of a drive but there are TONS of restaurant options once you get there.

Traders village in Arlington is such a fun experience. Its a giant flea market or what we call “la pulga” in spanish. You can find everything there and for really affordable prices. Also I think they have the best elotes in Dallas!

A day trip to Fort Worth is forsure a thing to do. They have a pretty good zoo there and the stock yards is worth checking out!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family has been my strongest support since day one. My parents dedicated much of their time to setting up the foundation and blueprint for my career. They then gave me the creative freedom to build my vocation and then the physical space to express and share my vocation.
My grandmother and great aunt gave me the confidence to take on all the challenges that a business will bring by seeding a strong faith in God.
