We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Waite and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrea, how do you think about risk?
I’ve always had ambition and a risk taker. Doing what makes me happy and having no regrets. I think taking risk is essential to your growth. Its normal to feel scared with any risk but you should be more afraid it staying where you are. It’s so easy to play things safe. When chasing a dream, get uncomfortable! It’s a fantastic mantra to live by. It means that pursuing your goals and aspirations often requires stepping out of your comfort zone, taking risks, and embracing uncertainty. This can be uncomfortable, but it’s often necessary for growth and success.
Taking risks in my career looking back I’ve seen breakthroughs and achievements often that went beyond my comfort zone. So, don’t be afraid to push yourself, try new things, and embrace the discomfort that comes with chasing your dreams. The temporary discomfort will be worth it in the long run!
I’ve taking several risk throughout my career. It started back 15 years ago. I was in school for photography. I’ve always loved art o wanted to be an art teacher and a photographer. I enrolled local community college to pursue photography at Antonelli College in Cincinnati, Ohio. I was pregnant and a single mother at the time half way through the program I wanted to drop out because the program was too much of a financial burden. Before dropping out my academic advisor suggested I switch programs into the massage therapy program. She mentioned massage therapy is a form of art. My passion led to me to my purpose and purpose led me to my calling.
With hesitation I was afraid to take the risk to switch. Looking back if I didn’t take that risk I wouldn’t be where I am today. Since then it took several risks I took the risk of starting my own holistic and clinical massage therapy practice with a negative bank account and only a table in my office space. I was determined to follow my dreams and make it happened. I was able to build a success business than ran for 8 years until I decided to close and move to Texas to pursue animal massage.
I recently took a major risk that’s made me the most uncomfortable and has gotten me out of my norm. I decided to move a cross country to the Dallas area to pursue my business and career change. Transitioning from human massage to animal massage sparked many to have doubts. Big risks lead to big rewards. Taking this leap of faith and to pursue my business and career dreams. It wasn’t easy. I faced tears, doubts, and goodbyes to loved ones. But it’s been the best decision I’ve ever made.
If you’re considering a major change, remember that growth often requires discomfort. So, I ask you: are you going to take the leap and make your dreams a reality, or are you going to let someone else do it? The choice is yours.
Don’t let fear hold you back from achieving your goals. Keep pushing forward, and don’t give up on your aspirations. Nelson Mandela once said: “there is no passion to be found playing small in settling for a life that’s less than the one you are capable of living”
Remember, someone once had an idea to sell bottled water… and people thought they were crazy! But now, it’s a multi-billion dollar industry.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own and operate North Dallas Massage. I provide animal bodywork to small and large animals within the North Dallas Area. I want the world to know that I’m ready to change the way people view animal bodywork. I wanted to educated the world about its benefits. It’s not just a luxury but it’s a necessity to their pet’s overland health. With my business I’m bringing things that has never been seen before in the field. I’m excited to bring this new venture to Texas .
