We had the good fortune of connecting with Ana Marcela Morales and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ana Marcela, how do you think about risk?
Everything I have accomplished has been through risk-taking. Whenever I’m about to make a “risky” decision, I always trust the power I have to produce. Many people struggle to grow because they are scared of what they can lose. However, it is mostly always financial and when it comes to money, you have to trust yourself to always be able to produce it. What’s the worst that could happen if you start a new business venture? Lose money and time? Time is never lost because you always learn and money, you can always make it back. Never let money stop you from accomplishing what you have always dreamt.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have an online fitness and nutrition business and a Fit Bakery & Café. I actually majored in political science and minored in theatre. At first I wanted to be an actress, but then decided to go to Law School. However, in the middle of studying for the LSAT and working my first job in a Law Firm, I realized office jobs were definitely not for me. I had never envisioned myself going to an office or working a 9-5 job. I realized I was young and that this is the 21st century and that I get to do what I like, not what “I’m supposed to” only to make some money and make a decent living. That’s when I decided to get all my fitness and nutrition education. I was bullied back in 2016 when I told people I had given up law school to become a fitness trainer. I was laughed at and mocked that I was going to be poor. Shortly after, I “failed” at my first entrepreneurial endeavor, which was a modern, functional-style gym in Managua, Nicaragua. The socio-political situation was not the best when we opened our doors and only a month after, I was forced to close it down. However, every closed door, opens up bigger and better doors. When this happened in 2018, I was forced to move my business online, and in 2020, I was blessed to have a well-established, full-blown online fitness business. As of today, I have been living off my career as a personal trainer and nutrition coach for almost 7 years, I was 100% financial independent when I turned 20, I taught a University class when I was only 21 (to the children of people who mocked me for being “only a trainer”), and have a growing online business and food franchise venture. I have learned that one of the most important factors for accomplishing your goals, is actually believing that you can achieve them. If you don’t believe in your own vision, who is going to support it? If you had a dream/vision, it’s because you are capable of accomplishing it. And remember that failure is part of the process, it gives us confidence that better things are coming and whenever we face obstacles or things don’t go as we planned, we are reminded that we have faced greater disappointments.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All my success would never have been possible without my parents because they have never doubted me. Ever since I was little I always had multiple and shifting interests . My parents took me to every dance lesson, acting class, sport event and everything that I could possibly want for that given season. If I would have told them that I wanted to be a basketball player in my 5’2ft, they would have supported me. I thank them for giving me the confidence I have in myself that I can achieve anything I could possibly dream of.
