We had the good fortune of connecting with Ana Carrillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Thought process to starting my own business is one of trial and error with a splash of self discovery. I started off wanting what so many people often want. The financial freedom, the do good be good feels, and most importantly living with purpose. After 5 years in an Multi-level marketing business and a year full of burying 4 family members in the middle of a pandemic I quickly realized I had to find out what really drives me. Which wants were mine and which were wants that sounded good because they were someone else’s and I made them mine because I still didn’t know what I wanted. Blessed by my 5 years of great friendships and amazing leadership I set out to find my true reason for being and what is behind my serving in the Insurance Industry. I branched out to become independent and started to serve people without the feeling of moving up. Don’t get me wrong moving up is important and needed to scale but in the phase I’m in I just want to serve unconditionally. Doing this has opened so many doors for me. I take each encounter just a little deeper. I laugh more as I serve the entire family in legacy planning. Most importantly I live more for the TIME I spend with my family. Not that I couldn’t do it before but its a different feeling when your moving with your own purpose, your own self discovering desires. Life is sometimes too short to not discover you, to not live the life the way you design it. I’m blessed to serve the people I can unconditionally and to co-create each day of my life with our creator.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At Unified Strategy Advisors we joined forces with specialist from different industries to employ a unified strategy for legacy planning. I handle most of the Life Insurance from term to Index Universal Life. I make sure our clients are up to date with policies that have full Living Benefits. I became an advocate after surviving a stroke and realizing I didn’t have my what if’s covered. Lina is a tax expert who understands the intricacies of tax rules, using them to help client net worth. Building wealth with a focused strategic direction that makes a big difference in the clients cash power and future retirement accumulation. Many people have blind spots in their portfolio and are not aware of it. Lina loves her role of being a financial catalyst in her clients life. Darren Sugiyama is a managing partner at Lionsmark Capital. Darren entered the Insurance business in 2003 and in only 7 years built a $37 Million dollar Insurance Agency. He is truly a man who is extremely strategic and works with impeccable integrity. Author of 7 books that continue to aspire in the Insurance, Financial and Entrepreneur world. Has changed the trajectory of many people. Together we are able to Specialize in Wealth Management & Retirement planning through the power of leverage. The key is employing a unified strategy to maximize tax advantages as well as accumulate wealth. Our team strives to meet our clients needs by planning cohesively.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love going to hotel high rise bars with outdoor seating. You get an amazing view of downtown and enjoy great vibes. My favorites are the Statler and Japanese inspired cocktail lounge called Akai. Both are must checkout places for anyone visiting.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have 3 people to thank for my movement in this direction. My husband has been one of the people I never realized was rooting for me. As a mother, wife and female entrepreneur you often have the perspective that someone is always against you and easy to adapt the male ego concept. In reality for me it wasn’t the case. I wanted different things from him and often I created the barriers between us. I often forgot that it wasn’t always about what I wanted but rather what we wanted. When money flows in, trips away from home and the wrong company around it can easily make you realize your marriage is not enough. With the help of Denise Do this last year I started unmasking every idea, every feeling and starting standing and realizing my own shadow. It is then when I realized what a great man I was blessed to share my life with. A man that stood by my side as I sabotaged everything in my life. If that’s not enough to start a business as YOU I don’t know what is. He created a space for me to LOVE myself more than anyone in the world and embrace the true meaning of unconditional love. What I do is in part because of who he is for me. The 2nd person is Lina Loh. She has helped me understand my own power and has shown me how to create the strategy to achieve anything in business. This woman helped transform my life with her wisdom. I’m honored to have crossed paths with her and grow in unison leveraging each others expertise. The 3rd person is my grandfather who has recently passed from Covid19 complications. One of the last stories he shared was about knowing your worth and not being afraid to walk away from those that don’t value what you do. In business you can often lower your worth because you have bills to pay. You allow appointments to reschedule after missed appointments with no communication. You can’t be afraid to turn away people who don’t value your time. That conversation and his personal experience of how he handled it is forever engraved in my heart. He loved deeply and honored his word more than a written contract. These 3 people including Denise really paved the way to my journey.
